When you say it like that it sounds easy. My previous attempts look more like failed ink blot test drawings. Which ended in me giving up at fire in the picture. My shading escalates quickly but that is another story.

Thanks so much for making this tutorial! The instructions were easy to follow and allowed freedom for the person to do whatever they wanted with their fire while still getting a similar end result. Very helpful.

just wondering, by nearly black background what do you mean? and nice tutorial this helps alot

I mean that you can blend the black with a hint of either red, brown, blue or orange

Photoshop cs4, but it should work in all photoshops and maybe other drawing programs but maybe thet use other words

This tutorial is actually fantastic when you look at it again- Since it also gives a sense of how you could make the fire look even if you choose using another technique if say, you're using a different program! Especially referring to the "waves/ripple" wording

It's good to have "pen pressure" but I also use the option "other dynamics" as well.
