I know this may be an amateur question but I don't have extensive knowledge of Photoshop and was stuck on a part of my planet creation, when I create the shadow after the atmosphere I end up with a dark, blended circle as I should but it has a very distinct edge around it and is not at all blended... :/

Besides the large canvas what dpi do you use? 300dpi?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Nameless-Designer In reply to drarock [2009-01-22 07:06:09 +0000 UTC]

dpi settings only affect how the image will be printed
for the pc it doesnt matter as quality wont change at all

I loved this tutorial, and I just finished making a planet following it! I ended up making a different approach for the shorelines, but this tutorial was a godsend

Grüße,
herostratos

When I fond pic of the globe to make my planets and made them bigger they came out blury like on sitting space upgrade. If you look you'll see what I am talking about, I'm not too good at explaining things over the web...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Nameless-Designer In reply to RoyalAssult [2006-10-16 21:11:50 +0000 UTC]

well, u need to find many pictures, and combine them together, 1 picture just doesnt do it for a sized 7000 document
i use anywhere from 60 images (large ones) to 140 smaller ones

SiathLinux [2006-04-08 02:21:40 +0000 UTC]

As I use differant programs than most (The Gimp for my 2d work - ie planet textures and bumpmapping) and (Blender for my 3d work - I making a sphere and dropping the texture onto it_) I can use the actual surface part of this, then I save as an image file (ie paintshop or photoshop image) then I wrap it on a sphere in Blender.. This allows me to rotate the planet for the 'best' view and allows me to have multiple planet creation at the same time... I then render and save as a .jpg, open the .jpg in the Gimp to do the finish work....
