This newspaper tip is genius! I kept trying to wing it and imagine what it would look in 3D, but it never worked out. I'll try this next time I make something :3!

Going to try this out.
Last plush pattern I made ended up wasting a good bit of paper and fabric... This'll probably be much faster too. ^ ^;

Thanks much for sharing!!

I'll be looking everywhere fr a way to a plushie head fr a doll with a cute nose (like pupkachoo's armature dollies) and I think this it's the stuff I need tp create the heads I'm envisioning....

If you were to make a small version of what you want to plush and then enlarge your pieces, would that work?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NataliaVulpes In reply to PsychoKay [2013-08-09 16:55:32 +0000 UTC]

yes, but this is better if you are going to make a really big plushie, and make the pattern in a medium size model, if you make the pattern too small  you may lose detail or end with a weird final product.

PsychoKay In reply to NataliaVulpes [2013-08-09 17:10:03 +0000 UTC]

I'll keep that in mind. Most of the detail can be planned out after the body is done. It's a giant lump pretty much!

Thank you for the answer! :3

Thank you so much!I have been looking for ages for a realistic octopus pattern, now I can make one.
Is regular tape ok or is it important to use masking tape (and why)?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NataliaVulpes In reply to svrochetteb [2013-07-24 16:11:27 +0000 UTC]

i think masking tape is better to draw the lines, but you can use any kind of tape

Interesting! I've been trying this myself, but with a clay sculpture model - letting it dry - making seam marks etc. and using scotch tape on top. Works pretty similar.

Aka-Chibi [2013-04-03 04:08:53 +0000 UTC]

would it be possible to just make a small scale model of the plushie, so that when you get the pattern you can just resize it to make it bigger? :33

NataliaVulpes In reply to Aka-Chibi [2013-04-15 20:28:32 +0000 UTC]

yes, i did that when i made a giant manatee.

turbolen7 [2013-03-28 23:29:17 +0000 UTC]

hmmm, I gotta try this. Had an idea though, do you think using some old towels or rags would work better than newspaper? Might be easier to shape and more reusable as well. Just a thought.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NataliaVulpes In reply to turbolen7 [2013-03-30 22:09:51 +0000 UTC]

i never tried that, but i dont think it will be easyer to shape, some times i use plastic bags,it's easyer than newspaper, but it works better for small projects since they dont make so much volume that the newspaper
