This has been the culmination of a project months in the making! (Though it's also a project that should've been finished a months ago.
)As is mentioned in the title this is part 1 of a 2 part story.
-I hesitate to mention this but, for those offering critique I must make a clarification; This has been a project months in the making. I'm not asking you to hold back or pull punches, rather just be aware that my art has improved since I originally sketched this thing out. Please take a look at one or two of my other recent pictures before you tailor your advice based on this picture alone.

The art work was amazing and as for originality was OK but not the best and this impacted me a`lot because i really don`t know a whole lot over the the apples family`s pa and ma so this was just perfect. The vision of the thing was as clear as it gets and that's saying something.The one thing that`s needed in this is more people looking at this art because i love this series!

Well first thing is that on vision it was a true and thought full vision I give it a 4, one thing is that yes a lot of people have noticed that but a 4 because you are the first (for me) that made a comic about that. Now in Originality I give a 5 because it was such an original dialogue in the story. Winona alerts A.J about Apple Bloom and then she thinks something went wrong at Family Appreciation day but no she never had a mother or father. Technique will have to have a 3 because sure its good, but next time I highly recommend using vectors. Now in Impact, this refers to a comic I saw of when Twilight has to let go of spike because he became a full grown dragon. But what I mean is that this is a huge impact to not only the reader/viewer it all so shows a reflectional issue on AppleBloom, AppleJack, and Big Macin' Tosh as well that they have no mother or father but yet its still not official on there parents fate. So in my conclusion to this critique I end Impact with a 5. Great dialogue on this sorrowful story NaterRang. Yours truly ~~~Zombieinferno32/The critique!

I think it was very unfair to score this comic low simply because the person didn't use vector images. The person relied on their own considerable talent and for that they should have been scored high. Anyone can use vectors to make an image (check out my gallery) but this person has talent and their own art style shows through in this. I'm not sure about anyone else but I would much prefer someone use their talent instead of copy/pasting images to get the desired outcome.

I don't disagree with the majority of your critique, but you didn't really explain why you gave the technique 3/5 stars. The suggestion to use vectors, really I think that's a matter of opinion.
I have very little experience making vector images, but I know from watching others that the method is completely different from the techniques I use when I make art in photoshop.
It's kinda like telling an artist to use an airbrushes instead of camel-hair; the artist might not know how to use an airbrush, and again- it's a matter of opinion.
I personally prefer the more organic look of hand inked lineart in photoshop! Plus, I would have no idea how to go about doing realistic shading in a vectoring program.
You just didn't give an objective reason why you rated the score the way you did.
Be that as it may; I'm still glad you enjoyed my comic. ^^

Oh I forgot to put in the end of the critique.~ I prefer vectors but still what ever tickles your peach. I try and give my honest truth even thought I have little experience in Art but like someone said~Beauty is within the eye of the beholder. so its awesome in you but in me I prefer vectors. and to also not take my critiques offensive what's so ever.Signed Etc..Etc...~Zombieinferno32

Excellent work. While many bronies have discussed and done various pieces of artwork about the Apple family's lack of parents, this comic strip here did it extremely well, citing a very good episode for the topic (Family Appreciation Day,) and giving a legitimate reason as to why Applebloom might be upset. Having Applejack coming in to comfort her younger sister almost always works, and the dialogue felt very natural, flowing, and realistic, it seems like something a real child in that particular position might say. The art work was fairly simple, but in this case it worked. The background art being too complex might have actually subtracted from the impact of the dialogue and situation. The only real criticism I have with the art is that in the last panel, Applejack's legs kind of look like really long feet. Also, there's no real resolution, but you said this is 1/2, so I'm not going to criticize you on that because you obviously aren't finished. I also love Applejack's character enough, she appears more heartwarming than usual but isn't out of character from herself on the show. All and all, an amzing piece of work, and you sir/madam (sorry, it's a little hard to tell on the internet,) deserve an award.

Okay so im gonna start of with the impact this picture has then i will go onto the drawings themselves
First i wanna say Aj and Ab are perfectly in character for example, Applebloom acts like a typical kid would; Thinking what she is upset about is stupid ect
and applejack is being the typical loving sister trying to stay strong but eventually her own feelings take over which is what i feel would actually happen if this where a real situation
Okay now the topic of the comic is a mature one that me and allot of people wish would actually happen- Mainly because it would make for a very mature lesson, also it would be better than her parents suddenly appearing in S3, so this is why fan-art is always a nice thing to see, Plus your comic is handling the situation in a great way almost like the show would.
okay on to the drawing, first of i wanna say your drawing skills are amazing! some of the poses you have accomplished are really hard ones and you have done them perfectly, Also your shading is very accurate e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="

I found the animated version of this and enjoyed it a lot... really gave me feels!
For me this kind of story is really important. The characters are... like us. They struggle like we do.
I really love that artists like you can use the MLP world to create experiences we can share and connect with.
