This was the first time I ever tried jewelry - and it's probably pretty obvious, and I found it exceedingly difficult! But every thing I put my hand to is a learning experience, and hopefully I soaked in something with this


I had /no/ idea what to do with the background -- so if any of you viewers have any idea, I'd LOVE to hear it, as I am not sick of working on this, just blocked. I really don't know what to do with it

You show a lot of technical skill in this piece... I love her expression and the general framing. The BG doesn't help it, though, you know what I'd like to see in there? A sort of out-of-focus impressionistic castle-sized room, with clusters of people wearing colourful robe-type clothes, gathered into urgent looking groups. A sort of 'daylight torchlit' feeling, some nice shadowy stonework. I have no idea why that came to mind, but I guess it's one idea...!

you're so right really -- I didn't know what to do here and it really shows lol I have the PSD file still, in all the layers, and I can revisit it... that's a really good idea. I always had the notion of a forest (and I think I even started out the blocking in of the trees) but inside a big castle broch great hall or suchlike... hmmm makes one ponder!

I think a forest might look a bit 'twee elf' (unless it was a very characteristic forest, rather than just being generic trees.. that probably makes no sense), and her expression just radiates personality and something a bit different, with a bit more attitude. Or you could do what I do when I have no idea what to have in a bg, and make a sky.
