I wanted to change her hairstyle the first time I saw it. It looked like too much like a reject of Sailor Moon's hairstyle.
The features I like from Mai is her neck. It's so ridiculously long that it's perfect in wearing chinese-collared dresses or turtlenecks. The haori actually covers most of Mai's sitting position which kinda throws the eye off the anatomy. I drew her figure on top of the haori to double check, and I was just being paranoid. I would love to have one of those, but I'll just have to settle for my thick blankets.
And I bear no ill-will towards Mai. I just happen to like Zutara more. Like, Zutara >>> Mai.

I love the way this turned out. It's emotional to boot! The hairstyle you chose for her is beautiful, relaxed, and almost makes her look more subtle. The Kimono and the details in it are very pretty. At first glance, I didn't recognize this was Mai. Still love it.

Haha, it's her little trademark, but I just adore how you made her look so much more mature now. And you kept true to her eyes, the piercing gaze just screams "Mai" everywhere!

Hmm, I think I wouldn't because that would make her prettier than Azula who happens to be the main villainess.

Not entirely contradicting! I wonder if they just did that since it was easy to keep drawing, no matter if she was fighting or looking bored. And they had to make her stand out...somehow...
