Description
'nother sketch page, this time with the Big G himself. Not too happy with this one, as I'm looking for a way to render Godzilla's scales. I haven't found a method that works well with me, so I'll keep on working at it.

I hear what you're saying about having trouble with Big G's skin...I'm working on drawing him now, and haven't found a way that feels right yet. Still, great work!

I kind of thought this Godzilla design, in the movie, looked incredibly badass then the 70's and 80's version. He looked like the devil as well. I think it was a good design choice, I mean it does suit him well to his very mean and destructive unstoppable power . Also, Nice job on the sketch though.

I agree with you. I know a lot of my friends aren't too keen on this particular suit but I feel that this was the best Godzilla suit design by far...eh, make that my favorite.
Thanks, I like drawing Goji this way.

Good job on the Beam+Impact in the top left corner. That helped me a lot with one of my drawings, of one of my custom charries blasting the earth.
BYAAAH!

here's a technique you may want to try...
find a photos of the Godzilla, then make a few high contrast xeroxes...
they make great ref to draw from, because all the tone is gone and it's just blacks & whites.
It would allow you to figure out how to draw the scales & other various textures in minutes...

Hmmm....never crossed my mind. I'll have to go and try that out. Thanks Michael.

It looks really good. Normally, when I draw Godzilla, I draw his "scales" as wrinkles. I have some drawn, just haven't put it on line yet.

Yeah I've used that technique before. But I'll keep trying and trying and hopfully something will stick.

Impressive pic of GMK Godzilla. He looks very fierce and intimidating in that picture. His scales don't look that bad, your on to something, and I'm sure you'll find what you need with some more experimentation. Anyway, nice picture indeed, I await seeing what this is leading up to.

Corn cob stuff...hehe. That be his scales Gary. It's hard to get a feel for that particualr texture. I felt it worked well on the Baragon sketch, maybe not so much here. But I'll keep trying though.

There he is! King of all Tokyo stompers! Big G!!!
Was always my absolute favorite, scared me and thrilled me as a kid. Had the model kit, with the glow-in-the-dark dorsal plates. Still have his roar as a wave file on my Mac, the most unique monster sound effect ever! Gojira! Godzilla! No equals!
Art Adams gets props for rendering the most memorable version of him in comics. I wonder how well Bill Stout would've done.
NICE one, EagleMan!
Inspires me to have a go.

I would love to see how you handle the Big G.
Ya know, somewhere in my house I have my first painting ever-which is Godzilla playing a guitar. I need to find that bad boy. I thought it was pretty funny. The again, I was like 16 at the time.
yeah, I need to look at more Art Adams to get a good feel for the scales. Hopefully I'll find something so that I can get started on this pic with both Goji and Baragon.
