Several people have been asking.This is half tutorial, half walkthrough, and overall very confusing. I apologize in advance!
For this reason, I doubt this will be helpful to many people, haha, but if someone can actually decipher all this and find it useful, don't hesitate to show me what you make!

Photoshop-wise, you can play around with the opacity and flow settings of your brushes/eraser to get a similar effect. has much better tutorials on that matter though.
