get your top hats and detective shoes on boys and girls, you've got a puzzle to solve, a plot puzzle.
I just hinted at a ton of things, virtually every line of dialogue in this is carefully worded to allude to plot elements pertaining to the ER nuzlocke.
don't think I've had a page this plot hinty heavy yet, hope you don't mind and enjoy all the mystery swirling around, since there's not a joke in sight
door to the other world is a reference to the gatekeeper clown from MAR 4.bp.blogspot.com/-9ln_PKvDn2Eβ¦
I really enjoyed drawing rayquaza, his pattern's are neat. I removed the red lining around the lips, don't want it to come off as lipstick
Not sure how much I should clarify in the description about what is hinting and what questions you should be thinking about, so I'll leave most of the info out of this description unless I see you guys start taking the clues scattered about this page in the completely wrong way. then I'll make the description more....descriptive.
consider this your chance without hint coins.
few things to consider though, guess you'll be getting one little nudge in the right direction from me.
quantum is that "rayquaza", things are talked about as if they're digital, snow's true identity and why she's hiding it is unknown
snow made a deal with quantum for some reason, which apparently only allowed her in the code, the ER world, if she tried to keep Eric to stay there for as long as possible, but not beat the game. why beating the game is discouraged is unknown
quantum has some plan in works called nerve coding.
golly, how do all these factors tie together? can YOU solve the mysteries behind the ER nuzlocke?
answers will be giving gradually over time, but the main purpose of this page is to bring forth several of the plot elements to the ER nuz and how it ties in without revealing all the answers, I want to pique interest in this run as well and show it's more than it seems to be
as to why Eric chose to leave despite the lingering doubt about "snow"s situation, it's comparable to when you have 2 friends who want to make plans on the same day and are only free that day. one of them you've been wanting to hang out with for a long long time and have had trouble reaching, and one's been bothering you with non stop calls lately. Both are good buds, but you end up having to turn on down for the moment to go hang out with the other one (assume you can't just all hang out together....man, this analogy sucks)
yes, I plan on doing something more with Kurumu's death, I'm sorry if it seems like I keep mentioning it and doing nothing with it.
it's a good thing I ended up doing this and the printer battle first, since the coffee battle is little text and a lot of action panels, that'll be a nice way to get past all this text and talking with plot relevance. good ol action
enjoy

Well,I'll make a deal: since you gave me a free spoiler (won't tell + kinda obvious if you look carefully), I'll give you one free spoiler from my nuzlocke, as long as
A: it's not something I plan as a suprise
B: it doesn't pay off for 5 pages, and
C: it doesn't tie in with the one I plan as a duality.
Does that sound like a fair trade?

hrmm. when quantum said stuff about not beating the game, the whole transfer mon until beat main story part comes to mind. In leaf-green the only way to trade with the hoenn games was to beat the league. i dunno if that applies here but it was my initial thought.
I kinda had hopes that if eric beats his black nuz he can get his buds from ER locke. I really like jirachi and have one in my soulsilver team. *crosses fingers* for Snow's forgiveness.

that's an interesting point to bring up, you'll have to see it that ties in.

I feel like I should wait until I'm more woken up to try figure out this puzzle. But it's so interesting and I want to figure it out now... Dammit, Penguin. :'D
But nerve coding. That seems really cool. I hope we get back to this soon because I'm really interested in this.
And Captain Coffee! I'm excited for his battle against Roberen the Nightmare Fuel Robot.

heh, seems like a tough puzzle to crack, it seems not too difficult to me, but I know the answers already, I can't think of how it is getting to those answers from these hints. heh, looks like you'll have to wait.
heh heh, thank ya, and I'll touch back on this topic not too far away no worries.
oh goodness yes, including the battle isn't a must for the plot, but drawing it out was just so much fun and it's a great fast paced page

NikkyDash In reply to OddPenguin [2013-08-06 14:57:32 +0000 UTC]
I guess I will have to wait. But you're going to tell us eventually, so that's the important part! It's not so much the guessing the plot as it is the actual plot being revealed and all.
Goooood. Cause it seems kinda sciencey and interesting and that's right up my alley.
And face paced pages are awesome, because it speeds up the comic a little bit.

OddPenguin In reply to NikkyDash [2013-08-06 18:00:30 +0000 UTC]
indeed, no way am I just gonna cut things off with some rushed ending, every element will get their proper explanation in time. can only afford to do such a grand plot since with so many thread the art is easy and quick for me to do in odd ones.
digital inspirations and such are fun, all i robot and stuff like that.
indeed, drafting them up is enjoyable too since you really get into the flow of things
π: 0 β©: 1
NikkyDash In reply to OddPenguin [2013-08-09 00:52:09 +0000 UTC]
That sounds good. So I guess you're not going to try to rush things for X and Y then? Cause if I recall correctly, you want to make it for that game, right? ._.
Drafting is cool, but I usually skip drafting because I'm lazy as all hell. xD

oh yeah, forgot that I never officially announced in a journal that I'm not doing that anymore, I've told several here and there in the comments, but never a universal announcement. yeah, I initially planned that, but I decided against it since the odd ones contest just made my plot twice as big since it added 11 characters into the whole mix of things, only 3 of which I've even been able to properly show. in addition I don't want to rush odd ones, I'm guestimating it'll be around 170-200 pages before I finish odd ones going by the current pacing and what I have planned, so that'll probably be another year before I'm ALL done.
I should make a journal about that, the one I have on my mainpage is outdated anyway since it was about a stream for page 83
heh, totally understandable since you can start straight on the computer, I find it very hard to start paneling and such on the computer, I traditionally draft up my pages first then scan the roughs.

whoa, you even typed it with the accent over the A, now that's dedication to quality XD.
oh thanks, and heh, I don't mind that you say that a lot I feel flattered. ah, thanks for bringing up that it's simple, I tried to not make the plot element seem convoluted and complex, it's not extremely complicated, just shrouded in mystery.
you wouldn't be able to get there, there's a reason only Eric can go here .3. . but if you could go there, then yes >W<

Quantum isn't the nicest guy on the block, and yup, I wanted to hint at a lot of the tie ins to the black nuzlocke to entice interest and credibility for me doing more with the ER, and heh, with more clues you'll slowly start to be able to figure out this puzzle easier

PitchBlackEspresso In reply to OddPenguin [2013-08-05 19:54:53 +0000 UTC]
well you certainly made your ER nuzlocke more interesting now, i never understood why you kept going back at it, now it totally makes sense (actually, nothing makes sense, but iΒ understand that at least it IS plotwise relevant xD)

OddPenguin In reply to PitchBlackEspresso [2013-08-05 22:26:30 +0000 UTC]
some plot elements have to go like that, you can't give their reasoning till near the pay off or much later on, but they're so satisfying to work in. glad you start seeing plot relevance to it now XD

Dragonite96 In reply to OddPenguin [2013-08-04 19:58:04 +0000 UTC]
I really need to go out andΒ buy MAR, I found the first volume in my school library and read it over about 3 times, and then looked the rest up online out of curiosity.
I'll probably try and get it after I finish my One Piece backlog, I juggled buying 2 series before, and it isn't as enjoyable.

OddPenguin In reply to Dragonite96 [2013-08-04 20:00:22 +0000 UTC]
I own all of MAR, definitely small enough of a series and easy enough to find if you want to get it, I got all of it off of ebay 15 volumes like 20 bucks.
I juggle buying 30 ish series, though after a few years half of them are wrapped up and it's nice to have them completed. now just the other half

Yeah, my dad does not like Pay Pal, mainly because he doesn't like putting his credit card details online, and I am inclined to agree with him on that. He will use Amazon though.
There is a Forbidden Planet shop in Belfast which sells a lot of manga, and has a permanent 3 for 2 offer on, but I'm not there very often.
π: 0 β©: 1
OddPenguin In reply to Dragonite96 [2013-08-05 14:23:29 +0000 UTC]
pay pal you don't have to use a credit card for, you set it up to transfer from your bank. it's safe as a bank. and it's just being a smart online shopper. but I understand the mind set.
sounds neat, but for such deals the volumes there are probably hodge podge of random numbers and series, not a huge selection
π: 0 β©: 1
Dragonite96 In reply to OddPenguin [2013-08-05 16:09:29 +0000 UTC]
Actually, the selection is huge, every time I go in, they always have nearly every volume of every manga they stock, and they stock a LOT. One wall of the first floor is filled entirely by floor to ceiling shelves of manga, so I reckon they just have the offer in order to encourage people to buy more volumes.

heh, there's one for everybody.
oh yeah, MAR is personally one of my favorites shonen wise.
mar just ended up lost in the crowd of shonen, and it also is under viz media not shonen jump, so it was in the wrong crowd for bigger shonen popularity since viz is more diverse. political reasons ended up being why, though it's also due to how they kept playing re runs of episodes of the anime instead of making more.
