at the same time, however, the fleet carriers are also the weakest armed capital ships of the LGF in relation to their size, weaker even than the Impetus-Class corvettes
because the Vector-Class, together with the Pendergast-Class of the IUSP, forms the group of carriers primarily deployed as support vessels.
unlike the Rya'C class (IUSP), the Pah'mont class (ISUP), the Sa'far class (FJN) and the Mah'arib class (FJI), which are active warships deployed directly on the combat zone and are therefore relatively heavily armed, so that the Mah'arib class, for example, is generally considered to be the officially largest regular battleship class
the Vector-Class and the Pendergast-Class, on the other hand, are deployed exclusively behind the front line and therefore have only "minimal" defensive armament
the Vector class, together with the much smaller Impetus class corvettes, is the only class of LGF capital ship that is not equipped with one of the heavy main guns that LGF uses in the tradition of Ori warships
however, an armament of fourteen 1400 mm STs and twenty-eight 700 mm TGTs can only be described as "minimum defensive armament" in conjunction with ships of the most technologically advanced powers, since many smaller interstellar powers do not even have warships with such "moderate" firepower
the Vector-Class, like the Pendergast-Class, in addition to its function as a carrier ship, is primarily used as a hospital ship, tender (mobile dry dock), supply ship/armed military freighter, troop carrier and long-range reconnaissance and surveillance unit
according to the general opinion of military analysts, the Pendergast-Class is considered the (officially) most powerful tender, while the Vector-Class is considered the best hospital and supply ship
Both classes of ships can be equipped with enormous additional computer and sensor capacities, making them the best long-range reconnaissance and surveillance units in the Milky Way and beyond
only the KDF's Basestars surpass the Vector- and Pendergast-Class in this task, but they are basically specially designed for the long-range reconnaissance task
the two Vector-Class hangars, like the Jaffa Nation's Sa'far-Class hangars, are at most suitable for corvettes, and furthermore, the unarmed Impetus-Class freighter version is preferred for transport in the internal hangars, while the gunboat version is transported with the external docking bays
for comparison: the Mah'arib-Class can at least transport ships up to the size of frigates, the Pendergast-Class can even transport destroyers in its hangars
this is all the more astonishing because the Vector-Class is also responsible by default for transporting ships up to the Exploratori-Class destroyer over intergalactic distances
