G o r g e o u s

I'm loving the whole atmosphere of this page. The sunshine, the trees, the bricks, oooh, especially the bricks. God. Always so good.

HO-HO, and you think I missed our boys in the background there? I see you, Nutter. I see you, Chance. I mean... I am seeing them, right? It sure looks like them.

Kinda wishing Mr. Long Hat (Alan?) would stop being such a douche canoe to what's looking to be a very mentally ill man, but well. What can you do. I can't wait to see who's shouting, and what they're shouting about.

Thank you! Bricks are fun, still figuring the right ways for them with traditional.

IT DOES LOOK LIKE THEM DOESN'T IT Nothing gets past you!

Yup, that's Alan! And he's not always a douche but yeah, today he kind of is... All that adrenaline from jumping into the road - not that I'm making excuses, I'm just saying he might learn.

Awesome page. I'm curious to see the problem someone has with the conduct of the officers, though.

For some reason I keep getting drawn to the way you draw foliage and bricks. They're wonderfully organic.

Oh, you mean the last bubble or in general? The next page is mostly sketched, so with any luck I'll start inking tonight!

Thank you! I'm still figuring out how to handle them all - traditional feels faster and more fun right now but it seems I'm also more critical about it, I want to do better!

Oh! I see you decided to draw your comic in traditional way?
(sorry if I miss something, cause you know how my current situation is)

It's... well, it's sad. But I'm curious what will happen now. Also, I love way you draw cars!

I started doing it a page ago (and re-coloured page 2) so you probably missed those! Dunno how permanent this is but yeah, trying it for now.

And thank you!

I'm sure I saw it but I forgot to ask.
It's neat.

Such a range of facial expressions on this page! (my favourite is Wynne  giving Alan the stink eye). And I love all the angle changes between the panels – very cinematic! I’m also really intrigued by what is happening in the background – is it something significant to the plot?

Also, I was about to ask if two officers taking someone to A&E was a waste of police resources, so thanks for clarifying that one!

Ehehe, thanks! I tryyyyy~ And oh, you know, just trying to keep the background busy, totally random unmattering cops...

I think some cops WOULD still call it a waste of police resources (Gadget is not big on it in the book) but it's kind of tied to police not carrying guns (in Alaska one cop can transport a suspect but they also give out a warning that they'll shoot in case of any funny business before they even take off). They also aren't allowed to transport several suspects TOGETHER but I suspect there must be some exceptions from that rule.

Alan and Wynne also have several hours in A&E and some paperwork to look forward to, what a day!

NEW PAAAAAAGEEEEE
OMG THE BRICKS THE BIRCKS DAMMIT

You are crazy, you know that ? All those bricks. So many of them. All diferent. Damn. Also I spot a pigeon. Does he have a badge ?

I am sorry that I have forgotten her name but I love that police woman. Also poor dude. And what an arse is the other constable x/

MUST GET EVEN BETTER AT THE BRICKS

And yeees, it's a specially trained police pigeon, it shits on crime... not!

The woman is PC Wynne Cleaves but CONVENIENTLY the other cop (PC Alan Fisher) is the only one who's been named in the comic so far so you don't have to worry about remembering all the names. I can't quite introduce everyone in the story the moment they appear but I'm trying to make the comic readable without all the other art and such.

But yeah, sensitivity isn't Alan's strongest quality at most times, especially after that much adrenaline. Something to work on!

Woo, next page, finally! I love their expressions here, as usual, and it seems like Chance and Nutter have just passed by in the background at the bottom. I bet it's them shouting "What the hell do you think you're doing!" too, heh. What's Chance carrying?

And Cord really has the audacity to say he's fine though he just wanted to commit suicide.

Aw yeah! It would be here faster if I wasn't busy irl. Trying to work out a better routine (and to worry about stuff less)...

And you're sort of right but wait till the next page!

Weeeell, most people say "I'm fine" automatically, especially suicidal people trying to hide it (but yeah, he's not good at it). Asking for help is hard, and we aren't even good at accepting the answer of "I'm not fine, actually I do need help" as a society. I kinda hate the Catch-22 idea of "anyone asking for help with mental problems isn't that bad and so doesn't need help" because it paints a really crude picture of mental illness but Cord's "ffffine" could mean just "I don't want to go to the hospital and I don't want you to ask questions". Besides while most suicides are premeditated in the sense of the person being unhappy for a while, I think most suicide attempts happen when a person who was unhappy for a while has an especially crappy day and suddenly sees an "opportunity" so in a way it could be unexpected for everyone involved, including the person. Talk about living on the edge...

It's really super cool to see the back of the station here! How did you produce those clouds? They're so fluffy! I love how nice the weather is here! It looks really warm. Btw, those two in the background look like Chance and Nutter! is that them?

How badly hurt is Cord? Even though it basically looks like a bad nose bleed atm... I guess neither of them can be sure.  I have to wonder if they'd take him to A&E though? I'm sure you know how bad A&E can get...pretty much always. You can be there for several hours waiting as per standard. They seemed to have a doctor at the station too - at least sometimes. I'm sure they'd certainly have somebody with first aid training... which might just be enough?

Or is this because he was possibly suicidal? So he needs a safe place to stay while they sort things over.

Oly-RRR In reply to alicelights [2017-01-30 04:15:17 +0000 UTC]

The clouds are white paint, and a bit of white pencil over the paint. And yeaah, the weather is clearing up! I might tweak the pages here and there to make them more consistent but it's that kind of weather that goes from cloudy to windy to sunny. And you'll have to wait and see but yes, it's them.

Oh, seems like just a nose bleed and some scratches! I think the station doctor is mostly for the people detained in the cells (both in case of emergencies and so someone with a medical qualification can ask all those questions about pre-existing medical conditions when they lock people up) but they have to take Cord to A&E either way - mostly so he can get looked at and get a referral to a psych unit (which is likely to have no spare beds and tell him to wait from hours to weeks and the cops won't be able to do much about it). Basically as soon as they had reasons to suspect he didn't just accidentally step under the bus they can't let him go without taking him to a safe place and filling in paperwork. Because if they let him go and he decides to jump under another bus a street away you know who'll get the blame... Incidentally police ALWAYS gets the blame in these situations and medical professionals almost never do, which I find really unfair (I miiight be biased but still).

Haha, I was kind using the time until Cord is named in the comic to think about possibly renaming him but looks like he's not living this one down! Poor fellow.

Those yellow police cars look oddly friendly.

They are really more white, yellow and blue, it's just me trying to do something about the background.
