Description
I got a ridiculoooouuuus amount of requests for a tutorial like this even though there are tons more extensive ones out there.. well here it is anyway. It's very basic and (I hope) easy to follow.Any questions, of course you just ask.

hi, I followed this tutorial and was able to select line arts. One question I have is if the line was "feathery" from being painted, after I select the line work, how do I make the recoloring not feathery as well? I mean if I used pencil or brush tool to go over the selected area, the color leaks outside the selection and I can't stop it. This leak doesn't happen if the line was clean bitmap when it was selected.

I don't have a "Channels" tab. I can't find it in the "Windows" tab, either.

Seems like a very useful tutorial! However, when I hold the Control key and click a channel, it doesn't select anything. Instead, it only gives two options of "Duplicate Layer" or "Delete layer".
I have a Mac though, so if you have PC then it might just not work for me. Is that the problem? I really want to try this. Any help?

Probably the mac is the problem, unfortunately I don't know how to use a mac so I don't know what to do in that case.

So...either my photoshop is fail or I'm doing something wrong...Every time I try to fill, the background goes black and then the lineart is white....and when I press Shift+Ctrl+I it does nothing o_O; what is the purpose of those together? Are you supposed to fill in the layer you created or the background layer?....Ugh T_T I can't get this to work

right there in the tutorial explains what to do if that happens. :/ read it again.

CrimsonStarEmporium In reply to OneFreeInternet [2009-07-12 05:24:25 +0000 UTC]
I did that...
But which layer am I clicking "Shift+Ctrl+I"? Because what happens after it goes black, I press "ctrl+z" to undo, then did the buttons for invert I guess and then it does nothing. Then when I try to fill again, it just goes completely black with the line art becoming white instead like before I did the undo.

I love this tutorial, it's so easy to understand!
It's just a shame that my version of Photoshop (I have Elements) doesn't have the 'channels' window...
Do you know of any other ways to do something like this?

myah5000 In reply to azimowolf [2009-07-09 14:45:56 +0000 UTC]
If all of your lineart's in one color, I use the
"select color" option to either select the lineart and copy it to a new layer, or select the background and delete it.

I have looked but knowing me, I've probably not looked in the right place.
Thanks for your help!
