Description A companion piece to the Sweeney Waistcoat.

The entire ensemble is to be worn at DragonCon 2008, as I have it planned. Hopefully I will have a Mrs. Lovett by then.

The coat itself was made from a boucle blanket and then bleached and dyed. I wouldn't recommend working with the stuff unless the design permits flat lining. Otherwise the wide weave makes it grow as you work with it and shed like a mangy dog.

I am generally pleased with the replica, although I intend to lighten the color a little more with floral spray/distressing and to add bloodstains.

Thanks very much! So does yours!
I'd like to re-do this one soon honestly. Just got a new wig to mess around with because I'd rather not grow out my hair again.

You're welcome!
Thanks! xD That makes me happy, especially since you're a really accurate Sweeney
You got a Sweeney wig? Is it lace front? I need a lace front Sweeney wig, if you make them, I would buy one from you

it looks authentic... you want to look like the demon barber, not like Johnny Depp

Well, I don't think that I could ever in a million years look like wee pretty Johnny Depp.

However, I'm fairly certain that I could pull off the Demon Barber::smirks::

Most definately. I've yet to see it on stage, but I got to see the broadway version with Angela Lansbury (Mrs. Lovett) in segments on YouTube thanks to my friend. And then when the film came out, I demanded to see it IN THEATRES. When I got to, it was awesome. I think they did such and wonderful job. The cheeseyness with the gore was perfect. Tim Burton just LOVES to coat Johnny Depp in blood...

The singing was great by all who partook. I had no clue that some of those actors could sing. I was blown away and so proud.

Yeah, no kidding!

I did have the pleasure to see the Michael Ceveris/ Patti LuPone version on Broadway a year or so ago. The concept of an entirely actor motivated show has always been appealing to me, but holy crap if this show didn't blow my mind! I left the theatre with a nice reminder of why I got into show business in the first place.

I'm so jealous.
The only stage show I've gotten to see in Phantom of the Opera here in Las Vegas, NV. I've never been to New York... but it's my goal to see Phantom, Rent, Chicago, and Sweeney on Broadway before I die. It may never happen, but it's still one of my goals...

It's amazing for you to be able to walk out of a theatre from a show only to be reminded of the wondrous world you've entered as a living. To see something like that is truly remarkable. I know I've yet to figure out why I'm working at a department store. >.<

Had the trip itself not been work related, I probably never would have been able to go. Yet, I would imagine that Phantom in Vegas is not too shabby! I hear that the new production is simply gorgeous.

Necessity drives us many places. You'll get where you want to be. ::grins::

BleedingWoundedHeart In reply to Opergeist [2008-01-07 19:21:46 +0000 UTC]

Actually, the production here WAS gorgeous. They built a theatre strictly for the play and it was amazing. It's such a small stage, but they did wonderfully managing it. The only reason they're able to do some of the set shifts they do is because Phantom, Christine, and Raoul have two people for each role. One of the Phantoms is actually black, I thought that was awesome. You can hardly notice when they change performers, too. That impressed me.

During the overture, the chandelier comes together. When you walk in, there's about three or four different chandeliers, but while the music is playing, it draws itself together right over your head, then later comes crashing down a couple of yards above the heads of the center section, falling again into the many pieces, it's very cool. I recommend seeing it to anyone.

I'm trying to plan on taking my friend from California to see it for her graduation present, provided she can get herself here.
