Description
This is one of many ideas I've had in the back of my head for a long time now. It came back to me in the middle of the night, and I couldn't, not, see it through.

Many thousands of years ago, May lived happily in a small village of one hundred other inhabitants. However. After accidentally setting an enraged Hoopa Unbound on her home, every inhabitant but her was killed. Arceus managed to seal it away, but May was not saved from it's judgement. To answer for her horrible error, she was sentenced to transform into a genie, becoming confined to a ring until her debt was repaid.

She must serve one hundred souls for the full duration of their lives upon acquiring the ring. Only after serving one hundred souls for one hundred lifetimes can she be freed of her curse. Worst yet, if her Master were to lose the ring prior to their death, then her service to them shall not count towards her sentence. On top of that, she was never told what her fate would be after her sentence was over, leaving a disturbing air of uncertainty.

Though affected by the loss of her friends, family, and the nature of her enslavement, May remained a generally optimistic and cheery girl throughout the years. Always hoping to tend to her Masters and Mistresses desires as best capable, and after several Millennia she reached her 100th Master. A cruel man with twisted ideologies.

Her worst fears were realised however when they were caught in a deadly sandstorm and the ring was swept into the wind and eventually buried deep in the sand, unlikely to ever be discovered again.

Nearly two centuries later, there came along Ash Ketchum. A prince banished from his home kingdom for a crime he never committed. After becoming lost in the desert, he collapsed from heat and thirst, only to have the ring slip onto his finger...giving both of them another chance...

Ash however, isn't the only one aware of May, for Phantom, the great grandchild of her previous Master seeks the ring for himself. And he's discovered how to get the one wish she was never able to grant...Immortality...
