I am such a dork.This is a collection of notes I got from watching the movie and looking at concept art and other stuff for this [link] . I decided to throw it together and post it for and any other newbie artist who is also a fan of the movie/dragons/whatever.
Yeah, never made a tutorial before. Please tell me if you think there is anything I should add in or elaborate on.

How many spines and where ARE the pines? That's it.

Argh that is tough because they are tiny. except for the ones on his back and legs.

All I can say about that is that he only has them on his head, lower back behind the saddle and arms. I illustrated the placement up there.
