Description: Do you know why foxes are smaller than big dogs, and If you are a fan of Finnick from Zootopia, then you should know that Finnick is a fennec fox. Fennec foxes are the smallest of all foxes, and the smallest members of the dog family. Those cute little foxes are native to Northern Africa. Fennec foxes had predators, like eagle owls, caracals, African golden wolves, striped hyenas, and even greyhound-like dogs who are local to the places where fennecs lived in. They are also considered exotic pets, because breeders confiscated the kits from their mothers to hand-rear, as the owners prefer tamable, and more able to handle the foxes, but these foxes are even though small and tiny, but they are extremely expensive. Like the desert animals, like warthogs, camels, hyenas, desert-dwelling reptiles, and others, fennec foxes are among the dogs of the desert, been able to survive in the desert without water, A fennec's burrowing can cause the formation of dew. They are also known to absorb water through food consumption; but will drink water if available. Fennecs are considered exotic/small wild canids, by USDoA, along with the coyote, the dingo, the African golden wolf, Eurasian golden jackal, graeyback, side-striped jackal, and arctic fox, and is considered only species of fox, other than that of the Russian domestic red fox, which people can keep the red foxes as pets. Although it can't be domesticated, it can be kept in a domestic settings similar to cats or dogs. A breeders' registry has been set up in the United States to avoid any problems associated with inbreeding. The legality of owning a fennec fox varies by jurisdiction, as with many exotic pets. Information on fennec fox social behavior is mainly based on captive animals. The basic social unit is thought to be a mated pair and their offspring, and the young of the previous year are believed to remain in the family even after a new litter is born. Playing behavior is common, including among adults of the species. Fennec foxes make a variety of sounds, including barking, a purring sound similar to that of a domestic cat, and a snarl if threatened.
