Description: This cat has the most numbers of name synonyms, the Puma. It was also known as the mountain lion, cougar, panther(often not confused with black leopards, black jaguars, and even their endangered subspecies, the Florida panther), catamount, etc. Closely related to the cheetah and jaguarundi, it is native from Argentina to southwestern parts of Canada, which rivaled against the jaguar, being the 2 largest cats in America. It is the 4th largest members of the cat family, after the jaguar being in 3rd, 2nd place goes to the lion, and 1st place is the tiger. They are one of the 3 alpha predators of today's North America, like the grizzly(Ursus horribilis) and the American graey wolf(Canis nubilus), as both can compete with each other for their territory. Pumas had the largest range of all the animals of the Americas, from Yukon to Andes. Along with the endangered snow leopard, both the puma and the snow leopard had the biggest ranges for their leap, which the snow leopard's leap can reach as far as 50 feet, while the puma's leap reach was half of it. We do know that both the cheetah and the puma are both the biggest of the small cats, but they are among the smallest of the big cats, right between the sizes of the leopard and the jaguar. Like lions, baby pumas(who are called, kittens) had spots, but they might lose their spots when they grow older as an adult. We do there's a problem about the puma attacks to humans. Puma attacks are very rare, but they don't recognize us humans as prey. Between 1890s to 1990 that they were 48 people got injured but survive from the attacks, and 10 people are killed by pumas. In 2000's that there were 88 attacks and 20 deaths from the puma attacks, might be as worse as last time. The best thing you gotta do, when you encounter a puma, when you are a camper, play dead. But if you stay still, they think you are prey. Other options, is exaggerating a threat to this big cat, within intense eye contact, loud shouts, and other actions to make appear bigger and more menacing, like a grizzly, so the puma can run away from you. Please watch out for pumas, and keep your pets away from those pesty predators.

The spotted one reminds me of an onza, a cryptid big cat.
