Description: All hyenas looked like dogs, which Linnaeus and other authors in the past classify that they are all parts of the dog family(Which until the evolutionary traits for hyenas for present day, which in old times, makes the hyenas, the most mysterious members of the dog family), but nowadays to present, that the evolutionary traits did tells the scientists that all hyenas are parts of the cat family. Which means that hyenas are not only that they are the most closest relatives to mongooses and fossas, but they are more closely related to cats than dogs, while dogs are actually, more closely related to bears than hyenas. Unlike spotted and brown hyenas, but like that of aardwolves, striped hyenas lived in monogamous pairs, which both males and females helped each other in raising their cubs. Despite that they have characteristics of primitive viverrids, lost from bigger hyenas and even the aardwolf, that they are the smallest of the true bone-crunching hyenas, they are also, the 2nd smallest members of the hyena family, after the aardwolf being in 1st place. All hyenas did have short back legs, long arms, short-snouts, sloping backs from back of the shoulders down to the base of their tail, and spiky-looking manes. Strongly resembled the brown hyenas, but they looked like these hyenas are almost like zebras, due to their stripes, within pointy ears, darker short-faces, to make these hyenas looked like the creatures with a head of a honey badger, ears of the jackal, body of a wolf with short back-legs, and stripes like a zebra with throat patches the similar colors of their stripes by appearance. The nocturnal striped hyenas are not only that they are native to North, West, and East Africa, but they also lived in the Middle East, Central Asia, and the Indian subcontinents. Legends and folklores of the Middle East says that the hyenas are the symbol of treachery and stupidity, which kind of reminds you of what that some adaptations of Jungle Book depict that Tabaqui as a hyena, because Indian golden jackals are too much wolf-like, but the hyena version of Tabaqui is still portrayed as one. We do know about the urban legends in North Africa, that they have striped version of werewolves, which they are werehyenas. Speaking of were-hyenas, modern fantasy series, did featured these creatures who are half-human, half-hyena, which they are called, "Gnolls." In India, that the striped hyena attacks on humans are extremely rare, but they are the lowest animal attacks in India, among with the attacks to humans from tigers, bears, wolves, rhinos, leopards, wild boars, and wild cattle. The competitors of their kills are leopards, cheetahs, wolves, jackals, and even young of big cats, like lions and tigers. Adult lions and/or tigers dominated the hyenas for their kill, not only that they save their cubs from them. In south Asia, that people can hunt the hyenas, for this moment that can provide animal cruelty, especially hyena-bating, which these hyenas are being attacked by domestic dogs, during the baiting.
