Description Trying out other styles for fun, and since it's October, here's a Hellboy - Mike Mignola style Miyuki.

Hellboy has a very distinctive style with high contrast all-black shadows, which is not for the timid - if you have details that are going to be in shadow, they're going to largely disappear. Also, the characters are usually quite angular while Miyuki is normally all curves. So overall harder than it looks, still I think it came out OK.

Previous style experiments collected here:
Comparative Ninja Studies - Alternate Styles?Every now and again, I like to test drive a different art style with our favorite ninja:

And was thinking of doing so again at some point. This is where I involve you the intrepid Internaut - give me your suggestions of what art style to try, and I'll give it a whirl. Well, try to give it a whirl.
Also, the poll's stuck in a tie again, so someone climb up there and poke it with a mop handle or something, I don't know.
If you'd like to see the literary version of Miyuki, go ahead and give the Oracle Sword your choicest of whirls - ten chapters so far, collected here:

Got another comic art style you'd like to see Miyuki in? tell me in the comments.

Love this one! The simple shading technique is very dramatic.

I love the Hellboy comics in part because of the how atmospheric the art style is (of course it goes hand in hand with the writing).

Although this is less work than the usual airbrushed style I do, it's harder to get right (with soft edged brushes I can just fudge the shadow in an area until it looks right, not so if it's solid black).

Yes, I've tried adding shadows like this when coloring things are discovered the same thing. It looks simple to do but you have to get it right for the dramatic effect. You certainly did a nice job here.
