Out of my many visits to the grand canyon, my most recent trip to the north rim by far was my favorite. I took one of my best photos during this trip, and even got an incredible sunset. This happened to be the most incredible sunset I've seen over the grand canyon out of all my visits. The colors in the sky just exploded and reflected back into the canyon. I was drawn to the variety of patterns in this particular scene between the sky and the canyon walls. When the sky lit up like the fourth of July, I began running all over the point shooting various angles and sides of the canyon. To be up at the grand canyon and not deal with hordes of crowds at sunset is a gift in itself, but to have these conditions just made it all the better. As far as processing goes, this is a blend of two images. One for the sky, and the other for the landscape. I kept the sky as close to how it appeared on camera while I boosted the contrast in the canyon to give some definition and depth. For some perspective, the canyon walls along the horizon are a little over 10 miles away.
