For me it's harder than just drawing it straight on :-p
But the tip about the advanced tab in the new canvas menu has helped loads, thanks

You could just draw them bigger or use the grow tool

Thank you so much for this fantastic tutorial, and for doing it using GIMP. I have never tried to do any kind of art using my computer before so this is a great starter lesson for me. I definitely need to practice using paths but I've had a lot of fun trying lineart out using your instructions. Thanks again!

What I mean is just put it on it's own layer and draw on a separate layer on top of it.

KK6665Player In reply to ??? [2008-09-17 01:51:36 +0000 UTC]
Question! Did you just draw the same person, or edit them into someone else? And also, I put the layer, but I don't see ANY difference in the picture. Am I supposed to see blocks like yours has?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
pheona In reply to KK6665Player [2008-09-17 03:58:31 +0000 UTC]
I don't understand your first question, but I think it can be answered in the tutorial. Second, a layer is transparent, so you cannot "see" a new layer

KK6665Player In reply to pheona [2008-09-17 21:45:35 +0000 UTC]
Oooooh. Okays. My first question was, did you draw a sketch over another picture? But only on a new layer, right?

wheres Advanced tab?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
pheona In reply to C7nder [2008-09-01 01:36:11 +0000 UTC]
I guess you don't need an "advanced tab" but I'm not exactly sure what you mean
👍: 0 ⏩: 2
pheona In reply to pheona [2008-09-01 13:03:21 +0000 UTC]
Oh, I see now what you are talking about! When you start a new canvas, you should change the dpi by clicking "+advanced options" in the newer version of GIMP, it is no longer a tab, just an expandable set of options. Sorry for the confusion and let me know if you need any more help

D: I tried this and after I did the step with the clean outliney thing, I went over the WHOLE drawing (700x700) and I clicked back to the messy drawing, all of the lines dissappeared!!! T_T

Uh, I have a question:
When you make a path, do you have to close it back up? I ask because when I was following your coloring tutorial, I wasn't able to use the fuzzy tool in a lot of places (only one place to be exact) and when I did use it, It would select the whole thing and I made sure I was on the right layer....
