~sashas Tutorial reversioned for the GIMP. Sorry for it's suckishness :

Original Tutorial: [link]

This is mostly just a reference for GIMP settings, I've learned after doing this for a little while that you just have to really get a feel for it. There's a lot of Ctrl+Z involved.

Anyway, hope this helps, if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask ^^

Omixgirl10 [2011-04-04 02:33:34 +0000 UTC]

I started using this for a picture I've been working on, and it worked SO MUCH BETTER than my old lineart method (which was pretty much "go over the lines with a paintbrush").

What exactly are you having trouble with?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LunoInaba In reply to Phineas77 [2011-04-07 04:17:57 +0000 UTC]

Actually I think the problem is the rough lines, but I can't tell exactly because I recently reset my PC so I don't have GIMP. But otherwise I tell you asap.

Phineas77 In reply to LunoInaba [2011-04-07 09:45:37 +0000 UTC]

well next time if you try it again, try it with the soft edged brush, that might help

Yes, I think it's going better now :3 Thanks for your help!

Phineas77 In reply to remetei12 [2011-03-21 19:12:02 +0000 UTC]

It should come with basic brush shapes, but if you browse here on DA you can find special brushes too, that's where I've gotten mine in the past

Rising-Eclipse In reply to Phineas77 [2011-03-16 00:03:31 +0000 UTC]

Yet it still taught me a lot. It never occured to me I could do that in GIMP. But then again I'm still a beginner

Phineas77 In reply to Rising-Eclipse [2011-03-16 03:31:37 +0000 UTC]

I didn't know it either until I saw the PS tutorial and thought "hey I bet I could figure out how to do that in Gimp" because I'm a gimp whore and PS frustrates me XD

Rising-Eclipse In reply to Phineas77 [2011-03-16 14:29:27 +0000 UTC]

I just do it because GIMP is free and Photoshop is expensive

You - are - awesome! I just got GIMP so I'm really new to the digital art game and this is amazing! The only other program I had before was Corel Painter Essntials 4 which came with my tablet but honestly suuucked -_-' I had no path tools or anything which made creating clean lineart a nightmare, this has saved me hours of frustration :3 thanks!!!
