Description Updated with shooting/aiming and additional AK info

Featuring Dave as the gunner
Voiced by Hugh Dillon (Nick from Left 4 Dead 2)
Sound effects are ripped from L4D2
Reloading scene with Val Kilmer taken from Heat (1995)

After noticing that the AR15 is often depicted wrong in video games, I figured not many people here on dA would know a damn thing about it either. So I present this to you.

Also included are the AK and MP5, since they are just about as popular.

This was brilliantly done, and I honestly can't imagine anyone who pays attention having trouble understanding this.

Thanks.

If all these gun tutorials don't explain guns enough...I don't know what will.

Whats the difference between the HK 'normal' reload and the 'slap' reload. I don't see what's the use of the L-shaped groove.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dunoid In reply to NoidEXE [2013-06-19 22:04:58 +0000 UTC]

Functionally, the two reloads do exactly the same thing. The only difference is the order the actions are done. The L-shaped groove is used to lock the charging handle back, which is useful for cleaning the gun or clearing jams, as it opens the action and frees up you hands.

I think it's probably called a dust cover.

What more could I do?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Crispyreaper In reply to PhiTuS [2010-12-01 23:09:57 +0000 UTC]

Hmmm, maybe how some of these weapons are utilized, or changed around for a specific duty? I know you at least addressed how much punishment a AK can take an still keep on kicking, but how about how some countries have taken that tried an true design and mixed it with US weapons, like the M4, to make truly versatile weapons, like the Galil.
Or even country specific weapons, like how Israel and South Africa are some of the best weapon designs because of how much warfare is a daily part of their lives.(Trying not too bring Israel's combat practices up, really a big fan of just about everything they do, an I dont want to go an a OMGFANGASM anytime soon...)

Anyways, yeah, maybe something like that? Just throwin it out there man.

PhiTuS In reply to Crispyreaper [2010-12-01 23:26:38 +0000 UTC]

How would I put all that in tutorial form?

And I can't just explain EVERY single goddamn gun in the world. Most of them are based on either one of these guns in this tutorial or all my other tutorials anyways.

Crispyreaper In reply to PhiTuS [2010-12-04 19:36:59 +0000 UTC]

Hmmmm, just was throwin it out there man. An trust me, you dont have to do a tutorial on every freakin weapon ever designed. That would just be insane.

0Anesthetic4u [2010-11-30 08:52:12 +0000 UTC]

This is fuckn sweet. Though I would admit the AK-47 is a widely used, and very good gun the most influential in history seems... off for it. I'd say most influential might be a musket, or the first lever action rifles, or even the M4 Garand which the M14 is based on which heavily influenced the M16 which has influenced a vast number of other guns.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

PhiTuS In reply to 0Anesthetic4u [2010-11-30 11:39:41 +0000 UTC]

M1 Garand.

PhiTuS In reply to 0Anesthetic4u [2010-12-01 23:28:36 +0000 UTC]

Regardless, many gun enthusiasts seem to agree that the AK is up there on the best guns ever list.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

0Anesthetic4u In reply to PhiTuS [2010-12-02 18:10:49 +0000 UTC]

Well yes alot of peole agree that the AK is one of the best guns ever made. I don't necessarily agree with that, but I'm not dissagreing with that I'm just saying "most influential" doesn't seem to quite fit.

Love the usage of Training Mode theme from ZoE 2nd Runner.

Very informative stuff man, while not listed in this tutorial I would absolutely love to get my hands on a freakin scoped Dragunov. Unless that was indeed a Dragunov shown under the Kalashnikov sniper rifle variant. Looked a hell of a lot longer in the pic though. Do want.

Keep up the awesome work.

Nice job on another good tutorial. I like the way you pronounce the russian names.

I saw a program on Discovery Channel about the Kalashnikov once. I remember some of its key features were its very distint sound, and more importantly, that it's virtually indestructible, which is part of the reason it's so popular. I'm surprised you didn't include that.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

PhiTuS In reply to Naphula [2010-11-29 20:46:48 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah...damn it. The whole thing about being reliable no matter what the environment condition is.

Maybe I'll update that info at some point.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Naphula In reply to PhiTuS [2010-11-29 21:01:30 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, they submerged it in water, then buried it in sand, and them drove over it with a tank and it didn't even jam.
Good ol' Russian engineering. The less parts you have, the less can go wrong.
