Description A rather unconventional technique for handgun (and debatably, long gun) shooting.

You may have seen Sam Fisher use it in the recent Splinter Cell games.

I use this stance as I am blind in my right eye, but right handed. It works great.

Agreed. You need to sight with the opposite eye. The front sight will have a double sight picture if you try to use the eye on the same side as the weapon hand. Β The head should cant, slightly so that the correct eye is on the front sight.Β

Interesting how a little thing like that changes everything.

This is the stance I use when playing shooters at the arcade. Glad to know it was actually a thing!

Good shit man, I've only used rifles since only officers or higher ranks get pistols in the army (yeah I know weird rules) but I'm gonna train up on how to use different pistols next month with my buds and this helps out

You did a really good job, one little thing though...one TINY detail...that you probably never had the chance to see is that the opposite eye is used in the extended position.Β  It's strange, I know.Β  When someone who's using the eye opposite their strong hand to shoot, it kinda goes against your own grain.Β  But you did a damn good job.

Thanks!

Oh yeah...I heard about that...I felt that little detail was too negligible to include in this. I don't see a problem with using your dominant eye to aim (which, for some people, could incidentally be the opposite eye.)

Actually, the adaption to use the opposite eye from the norm is where the CAR system gains it's strength in recoil mitigation.Β  The tightening of the elbows for the bone alignment that does all the recoil dampening can only be accomplished while using the opposite eye, otherwise, you're just holding your pistol in an awkward manner, and the recoil actually gets worse.Β  This I've tested.

Huh. Interesting. Didn't think a slight repositioning of the arms would make that much of a difference.

Oh it does.Β  Shooting a gun is way more than looking cool and pulling the trigger.Β  You can easily tell who's had years of firearms handling experience from more than just their ability to shoot straight.Β  Every single movement, no matter how strange or odd, or 'uncool' is actually serving a purpose.Β  After all, the proper use and technique when handling firearms is the modern day martial art.
