I'm saying nature isn't much different than God. They both reward and punish. Nature isn't dumb. That implies a level of intelligence, which implies a brain. Nature is like a snail. Snails don't have brains, but they do exhibit signs of logic.

Nature doesn't claim to be omnipotent, omniscient, all-knowing, and most importantly, ALL-LOVING. Nature is soulless and indifferent. Your claim that a god exists, is all loving, and knew all this terrible stuff would happen and that he would have to send souls to hell if he decided to move forward with his plan of creation because he sticks to his own weird fucked up rules, demonstrates your indoctrination, delusion, and lunacy. I too was like you for 30 years. So I pity you. But I also see you as a fucking lemming. So fuck off with your bible arguments. They have NO power here.

I was an atheist once. I'm actually an absurdist. If you read my comment again, not once did I claim that a god exists. Furthermore, if you really read the Bible, hell doesn't exist. In the Old Testament, sinners were said to rest eternally. There are very few mentions of hell in the New Testament. About the only time Christ mentions it, is in a parable type speech. Hell is likely an allegory.
The Bible was written by different people. Of course the rules are going to seem contradictory. The authors probably didn't agree with each other. If God exists, we have no real way of knowing what the rules really are. However, there is still some reasonable advice in the Bible. Teachings of good will and peace.
Atheists tend to be irritable and impatient. If you're not into Christianity, you should at least consider meditation. You sound like someone prone to anger. I heard Buddhist monks are some of the happiest people on the planet, because they meditate and separate themselves from material stresses (ie internet arguments).

Thanks for your comments, although the Mahayana is one of plentiful doctrine sources that many Buddhist monks use to justify violence. I like things about Buddhism and even Christianity. However, it's still sectarian, divisive, us and them thinking. I am still hurt and angry about my extreme fundamentalist upbringing, but I do meditate. I do enjoy life, and it seems presumptuous for anyone to assume I don't based on a handful of cartoons.

You mean Lucifer? I think the story is that he got jealous of God's love for the humans, so Lucifer thought mankind how to read and write and then God punished him and send him to Hell, thus making him "the devil" or "Satan". But I could be wrong, that's just how I remember the story.

When you want a mule to go forward, you dangle a carrot in front of it and poke it in the back with a stick. A "Carrot and Stick" approach is one that relies on punishment and reward to get someone to do something. Rather than actually giving a reason to do something, you give them a carrot (reward) and/or stick (punishment).Β
