Description Updates
4/5/12 Yet another picture update, this time its better looking...IMO And a detail collage is on its way. I also improved the bio.

1/19/12 I'm updating the picture, his arms got reworked, and he no longer has a the drill axe. I plan on giving him a new weapon eventually though. The background is a bit rough right now(needs to be ironed) I'll get that fixed shortly as well. So expect updates of the updates soon.

About the MOC
Ryakk-my first colossus, and oldest build. Ryakk Was my first real accomplishment in large scale bionicle MOCing, and MOCing in general. He's really the one that kicked it all off. After him most of the Kino Aki were quick to follow. Then followed the need for good guys to be at odds with, and before I knew it, I had a MOC collection. Of my three colossi(super titans) Ryakk is my favorite.

Bio summary
Ryakk was a Dark hunter for most of his life, being born into the faction and raised around them on the island of Odina . Taught, "you either fight, and win, or you die," he had a Spartan-like upbringing. Ryakk is part of a sub species that grows abnormally large. He soon dwarfed his brother, Ootei , as well as the other young dark hunters. Growing up as a very brazen individual, his size inflated his ego, making him think he could handle any mission or opponent, which lead him to getting out smarted and tricked a lot. Realizing it takes more than muscle to win a fight. He stopped taking missions from the Dark Hunters Guild, and schooled himself on being a tactician as well as learning sciences to create or manipulate weapons. After many years of this he then returned to the guild, and took on missions. With every success he rose up through the ranks and became a general, controlling several companies of other Dark Hunters and Skakdi.
Ryakk over time grew tired of his position and feeling like there was no rising above it. He attempted to assassinate The Shadowed One . He was defeated when most of the other Dark Hunters Banded together to defend The Shadowed One. Ryakk and his brother Ootei were exiled from the Dark Hunters Guild. Looking to capitalize on this, the Makuta Remaku allied himself with them, and they formed the Kino-Aki . Ryakk and Remaku have more of a partnership, though Ryakk is considered second in command. However, Remaku knows not to cross Ryakk, for it could be a power struggle he might lose.
Ryakk prefers taking on missions still and engaging in combat while Remaku takes on the leadership roles and responsibilities. Ryakk typically takes missions where large battles are fought and many enemies need to be defeated. When a single target or toa team needs dealing with, the other members usually take them on, unless the target is a particularly powerful one.
Ryakk's fighting style relies more on close quarters combat than anything else. He carries a few energized protodermis grenades for tactical use, but he mostly relies on his martial arts in combat, then if needed, his weapons.

Thank you. There's not that much different about him, just the arms. Ryakk always had this kind of "attitude" look to him. I think its the shape of his head.

Are you referring to the chain and the things on them or the cloth?

Yes.

The things dangling from the chain are grenades. The chain has fenrakk teeth on it. The cloth is more or less just for decoration. It gives him a different texture presence.

Thanks greg. Need to iron the sheet and work out a better lighting position for the biggies. But yes, thanks.

I know nothing of these bionicle toys.. but this is definitely badass. I would just pose him differently.

Thank you. He is more poseable, I just have him "standing around" to simply show off the MOC.

Pretty good, there are a few things that put me off, but they're very minute. These include the gap between both halves of the lower leg armor, the open sides of the feet, and the blockiness of the hands. The only thing that's really distracting is the part of the body leading from the waist up to the chest, it's so thin and open it really distracts the viewer from seeing other parts of the MOC. It could definitely use some filler/armor pieces there to complete it. Last thing, the head looks a tiny bit odd to me with the inclusion of a hook nose, but eh. I like the little accessory touches you added to create asymmetry on the MOC, like differing shoulder armor, and the item on the side of his right hip. Overall, about an 8.75 for this one.

Yeah, I see what you mean. I'll have to fill in that little gap. As for the thin section. That's done on purpose. He's supposed to be really thin there. He's a bionicle, he doesn't need guts there. It may look like a point of weakness on the MOC but actually those are all lift arms clustered together so its very solid and sturdy. He doesn't flex around or anything at that point. The hook isn't his nose its more like a horn that protrudes from his lower jaw. Thanks. I really like the asymmetry to.

Damn. Just. Damn.

I REALLY need to win the lottery so I can buy enough parts to build on this scale.

Then again, anything I build on this scale will be in rare or obscenely weird colors anyway, so... just money will not save me.

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to Sandtrap [2012-01-21 14:06:32 +0000 UTC]

Hehe, thanks.

Yeah, having all the parts you possibly could need won't help unless you've got the skill to make them go together well. I have the reverse problem, I know I could make some amazing MOCs, I just don't have all the parts to pull off my vision. Like my large Fenrakk spider revamp, or Matteo's Dirigible, or a large elephant. These are ideas that'd take a lot of resources, which I don't have. So I just plan in my head.

Sandtrap In reply to Plague-Doc-Matteo [2012-01-22 07:28:19 +0000 UTC]

My problem is always lack of small parts in the right color. The uncommon, little ones.

Which is why I tend to use so much black. All the good liftarm family parts come in black and that tends to be the most common color outside of actual technic pieces.

Plague-Doc-Matteo In reply to Sandtrap [2012-01-22 12:38:57 +0000 UTC]

Oh? Could you give me an example?

Yeah, it is. I've noticed that. And black can go on just about anything that isn't a while or real light colored MOC.

Things like the general lack of orange.

I'd have a half-way decent Onu-toa by now if I had more orange.
