What do you mean exactly? If you're trying to change the minimum diameter, you will need to have a tablet connected to your computer. :3

Question - I right clicked after doing everything you said, yet it has 'Stroke Path' greyed out, as well as a multitude of other options. Am I doing something wrong?

The layer is most likely locked. :3

Hamasan In reply to Popo-Licious [2013-07-23 16:10:39 +0000 UTC]
Oh! Yeah, I figured outΒ what was wrong. I had accidentally unclicked the layer I was on and so it [the program] thought it was not on a layer and therefore couldn't do anything! Sorry for bothering you. >.< I hear you use CS3? I use CS4. :/

No worries! Sometimes it can be a little tricky to figure out why Photoshop is acting weird. >w< I do use CS3. I think it's pretty similar to CS4 so hopefully my advice works for you!

This is a great help thanks for showing this for everyone who needed help. By the way what program did you use gimp, paint tool sai, fire alpaca, or Photoshop?

I use Photoshop CS3 exclusively. I've been told that this method works almost the same for others programs though.

Hi! This tutorial works like a charm! I was just wondering what your brush settings were? Because every time I delete the path, some parts of my lineart are blurred, and some parts are too thick.
π: 0 β©: 1
Popo-Licious In reply to EriChiya [2013-06-24 11:36:11 +0000 UTC]
Hello! I use the default PS brush set at around 4-6px in size. If you have any blurring or weird effects, make sure the flow and opacity are both at 100%, hardness is at 100%, and spacing is set to 1%.

EriChiya In reply to Popo-Licious [2013-06-24 11:42:35 +0000 UTC]
Ok, thank you! Is that the same setting for the two sample linearts that you provided in the tutorial?

Popo-Licious In reply to EriChiya [2013-06-24 13:42:38 +0000 UTC]
Yep! That's the brush I use for all my work. The only thing I ever change is thr size and the minimum diameter. In the second example though, I manually alterted many of the lines, so that's an "advanced" technique. >w<

But when I control+click on my anchor point, it just seems like a double clicked on the point instead of doing any curves? I never understood that. AHHH D:
π: 0 β©: 1
Popo-Licious In reply to Eziara [2013-06-11 17:53:11 +0000 UTC]
Are you holding control? You have to click once to make a point on the path, then hold down control while dragging the point. Check your settings too! ^__^

Eziara In reply to Popo-Licious [2013-06-12 00:48:19 +0000 UTC]
Well, it changes the concavity of the line. But I could do that without holding the control key. Actually, I could create curves by dragging the second anchor point of the path. I've just always wondered how others done the same but in a different way.
How strange. And thanks for replying back so quickly!

I always used to wonder how to get really neat line-art since I don't have a very steady hand. Now I know the basics of the pen tool this solves a lot of problems, thanks!
