This was a great tutorial! I learned a lot about the pen tool. I'm having trouble with the Stroke Path option though. When I try to do it after laying my path it stays grayed out. Any idea why that is?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Popo-Licious In reply to RenzoWhitt [2013-02-25 13:41:40 +0000 UTC]

The layer you're working on is probably locked. :3

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RenzoWhitt In reply to Popo-Licious [2013-02-25 13:47:42 +0000 UTC]

The only layer locked is my Backround. Everything else is normal though. I did notice that every time I place my anchors to create a path it creates a shape that is automatically filled in and it shows up in my Layers panel as Shape #. Is it supposed to do that? I just want to create lines not whole shapes. I must be messing something up.

Popo-Licious In reply to RenzoWhitt [2013-02-25 13:58:26 +0000 UTC]

It sounds like your settings might be incorrect. >o< Make sure that the buttons you have selected look like the ones circled in the first image of my tutorial.

RenzoWhitt In reply to Popo-Licious [2013-02-25 15:00:17 +0000 UTC]

Ok it's working now. Just need to figure out how to make the lines all nice and pretty now. Thank you though. You've just saved my soul from the wrath of my Platoon Sgt!

I still have so many questions about the Pen Tool, though. Haha. I just got CS5. I love the Pen Tool to death, but I haven't figured it out down to an art yet. If I were to ask these questions, would you mind trying to answer them? Or would you happen to know anyone that could? Thanks!

Might I ask what brush you're using and size? Thanks!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Popo-Licious In reply to Introvert-Thyself [2013-02-06 16:12:39 +0000 UTC]

Sure! I'm using the default brush in Photoshop. If you open up your brush selector, hit the "Reset Brushes" button and select the very first one. From there, feel free to use the slider to change the size. I was probably using between 3px and 6px. If you're concerned about the taper effect, you can control that by hitting F5 and playing with the Minimum Diameter. (Located under "Shape Dynamics") You will only be able to get that effect with a tablet though. ;3

Hey, not meaning to sound rude, but think you can update this with the text color changed so that it doesn't resemble the background so much? Makes it easier to read it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Popo-Licious In reply to dragonmorpheus [2013-01-05 20:52:16 +0000 UTC]

Nope! I'm sorry. Please try copy+pasting it into Photoshop and see if some adjustments help the situation. I don't have the original file any more so there isn't much I can do. >:

SAI also has a pen tool, and to my knowledge, it works mostly the same as in PS.

I'm not sure what you mean. :0 If your trying to instal brushes, it might be a Windows/Mac issue. Otherwise, I'm not sure how you "lock" brushes in Photoshop, unless you meant that your layer is locked. :3
