Description Huge amounts of stellar dust collide with our planet every single day, as we drift closer and closer to the light. Slowly but surely, the sun gets larger and larger in our view. Massive walls of gas surround us, and we are becoming one with them. The gravitational force of the sun in the center of the gas will eventually tear our planet to shreds. The planet will be long adandoned when that day comes, but we will undoubtedly be watching the destruction with tears in our eyes. Our planet is part of an electric field which is slowly being ripped apart. The field spans light years upon light years, yet we are peaceful at the time. It won't last for long though. Definitely, not for long.

Alright...

My very first piece in which everything is COMPLETELY brushed. I am extremely happy with it, the framing, everything. I am happy with how it turned out. I chose the title because it sounded good... and it looked cool when I spelled it out with the rest of the frame. I would also like to point out that that planet is 9 times as massive as Jupiter, in my mind

I drew HUGE inspiration from Nameless Designer's "Thoughts" ([link] )

Anyways, Stats!!!!

Adobe Photoshop CS2
Layers: 77
Time Taken: 6 hours... (stayed home sick... stupid cold/flu/"feeling lousy" bug)

Yea, I don't know why that light looks weird... I understand what you mean and I am in the process of fixing it. I think its just a little too intense for the black gas it comes out of.

Thanks for the fav man, greatly appreciated

Nameless-Designer [2006-10-11 15:54:44 +0000 UTC]

hmm, ur getting better but there are something wich colud be improved on
1. the general flow, somehow the central colum of gas is much to....angular, gas is free, urestrained by anything, it moves how itt wants. this here looks like if it was squeezed through a box, tr yto bring more motion into it
and 2. ligthing
the brilliance and rays suggest theres an extremely intense light scource in the middle, the surrounding gas (for example on the holes where the rays come out) is not lit enought to enforce this theory.
so corrections on the ligthing and colouring could be made.
on a positive note, i lik ethe colouring of the genrela image and the detailing in the gas. good job on that!
just some constructive c&c

Very awesome Scott! you know you get a from me. I don't know how all you use is Photoshop CS2... I couldn't do it. You have a greta imagination and I think the colors are great. I like the darker center with the bright light just coming through the burn holes. I wouldn't change a thing.... other than the fact that you are sick as hell. Hope you feel better, eat lots of soup and rest hun.

GigaBeast [2006-10-10 23:41:23 +0000 UTC]

ok...

the brushing for the side cloud waves is good... but I am not really liking the middle at all. it looks like you just overlayed a texture or something. I also think there is a little too much dark in the middle, i kind of wish I could see farther into it without it being so dark... at the least lessen the oppasity of the intercepting dark area. The reason I think this is because when you have such an extremely strong light being emitted it will kind of glow through nebulae. The glow amount will vary of course with the thickness of the nebulae.

anyway, good piece, you are learning really fast I can see! keep them coming and keep inproving!

powerpointer In reply to GigaBeast [2006-10-11 00:05:32 +0000 UTC]

You may need to adjust your monitor settings to see it, but I did make the light able to glow through the nebulae. Its not as obvious in the dead center of the dark matter portion, but around the edges, the nebula is much more transparent, and there are a few "burn holes" in the middle.

Thanks GB, glad you enjoyed it

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GigaBeast In reply to powerpointer [2006-10-11 00:12:48 +0000 UTC]

lol, don't worry, my monitor adjustment is the best I have seen in any other computer... as you said the sides are more transparent, which is good, and you do have some burning holes... but I mean take look at Nameless's Thoughs. He made the center part glow with the same color, instead of making it black. I do realise that it is unfair to compare the two pieces, but do hope you see what I am talking about

powerpointer In reply to GigaBeast [2006-10-11 00:16:38 +0000 UTC]

I definitely do. I was going for more of a dark matter appearance, but logically it does make sense to make it brighter... maybe when I decide to get up and stop having coughing fits I will change it a little bit.
