Description [EDIT]

So I finally remade this tutorial. The main reason for that is the fact that the so-called layout was just horrible.

I've used different photos as well (because I didn't keep the old ones -.-)
But basically the content is still the same, I've just added a few things.

If you, however, prefer the old version: It can be found there [link]

-----

If anyone detects a mistake or has a suggestion for a different wording in some cases, feel free to tell me.
I'm bad at explaining, especially in English xD

I do have a question^^
if you want to make a beads from it (to make a necklace or bracelet), when do you make a little hole so you can push thread throught it...
1. after cutting and baking?

or

2. before?^^
thx

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

QueEnOfNights In reply to Jurascat [2010-07-15 07:19:54 +0000 UTC]

I personally would do it before baking.
I'm not sure, but it seems you normally cut the canes after baking?
Well I don't know what clay you use (I guess cutting Sculpey is easier than cutting Fimo, for example). But I suppose those beads are a little bigger than slices you use for nail art or miniature food.
You know, I'm just trying to say that in that case it might be easier to cut the canes before baking them anyway
In that case you could put the canes in the freezer for 10 minutes or so, that way they become a little harder and therefore easier to cut.

But anyway, when trying to make that hole after baking, the clay often becomes a little cracked (depends on the size of the hole) and it breaks easily.
So I suppose that both 'methods' are possible, but I'd go for the second one

Sorry, I'm still a little drowsy...So if the stuff I wrote is confusing or otherwise stupid, just ask again

ohh^^ i get it...
thank you...
i use fimo (soft) because I can' t find any other clay (like polymer, scullpey etc.) in my country :/ naah
^^

QueEnOfNights In reply to Jurascat [2010-07-19 11:24:53 +0000 UTC]

Same as me. I've once tried Sculpey, though. I guess it really is a little too soft for me, so I'm still glad to have the chance to work with Fimo at least

Jurascat In reply to QueEnOfNights [2010-07-23 20:33:04 +0000 UTC]

hahaha
try working with fimo soft on 35°

I can' t make anything...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

QueEnOfNights In reply to Jurascat [2010-07-26 14:06:22 +0000 UTC]

Uh I suppose so >_<
I'm not at home anyway, so I didn't try when it was that warm, but that's quite annoying...I hate it when Fimo becomes TOO soft...
Good luck, though xD

Eicats In reply to ??? [2010-06-14 16:36:55 +0000 UTC]

I think this looks really professional! The close-ups and clean layout really work well. You have a knack for making these look so easy: good directions. I like the little thumbnails at the bottom that show the other fruit options, too- that's a good tie-in.

QueEnOfNights In reply to Eicats [2010-06-17 15:47:10 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!
Yep and it's fun to make these tutorials, I'm thinking about another strawberry-cane one, since I developed a better method
But on the other hand I should perhaps try to finish a drawing first...

Haha nice!! It's officialy my fruits slice best tutorial!
And next time that i'm going to make some of them i'll know where to search. ^^
(But without that mush clay... i dont wanna make tons of them...) :S

Thank you so much!
You're right, I just used so much in order to show the whole thing properly, otherwise it's so..small xD
But yeah, especially if you want really small canes...it's absolutely sufficient to use a smaller amount of clay

And thanks a lot for the fav as well!

Ja, echt sehr schlecht dein Englisch - schäääm dich! :'DD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

QueEnOfNights In reply to x-Mana-chan-x [2010-05-23 11:56:22 +0000 UTC]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

x-Mana-chan-x In reply to QueEnOfNights [2010-05-24 08:07:20 +0000 UTC]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

QueEnOfNights In reply to x-Mana-chan-x [2010-05-24 11:07:32 +0000 UTC]
