Description
I knew I'd get around to finishing this guy eventually. This is a character drawing for ~RakaiThwei . The date at the bottom reflects the point at which I'd finished the inking; I wasn't sure exactly when I'd be able to attend to the coloring. There's a watercolor wash underpainting, but all of the detail went in with Prismacolor pencils.

I'd be careful with the sword that he's holding. Haha but I have to admit you did a excellent job on this. It would be nice too have a torturial to learn how to sketch like this. (That is if you have the time )Ā
but really, this drawing is really good.Ā

Thanks very much.
Yeah, you have to be pretty careful when you're performing gymnastic feats while holding long pointy things... Ā
I have an older 2-part tutorial that shows the drawing process for one of my Predator pictures, if that would help:

The coloring job is wonderful! Pose is very good, so full of energy and action! The sword is my favorite part (what a surprise, I am obsessed of swords). I am not surprised that RakaiThwei likes it It is magnificent.

Starting with water color sounds like an awesome idea. I'm going to have to try it some time. I haven't had a chance to work in pencil for a long while, it could be fun. Btw, great job on the coloring. I've noticed you seem to have a distinctive coloring style. ^_^

Thankies. I'd say that the main tendency I have is toward high-chroma and analagous or split-complementary color schemes. I don't know if that qualifies as a style or not, but I know that's what I do when I'm not thinking about it!

The high-chroma works. It reminds me of older comic books, when the couldn't get the range in printing colors they have now. I like both the modern, and the high-chroma coloring styles. Styles or subjective so I suppose it could be one if you ever wanted to call it that. ^_^ Bleh, I have an obsession with the Minor Complement color scheme of Purple & Orange. I blame it on Maxfield Parrish's artwork.

WOW!!! Awesome Predator. I like the...uh... "puddle-jump" pose? And the colors are awesome as well.

Thankies. I get tired of seeing Predators in the "striking a manly pose" pose, so I went for a backflip instead.

Dear God... I've just been 'ed by a Predator...
I'm pleased that you're pleased, in any event, and even though I now smell like happy, sweaty Predator. Life is good.
