Requested piece for ~godzilla15 . This is her Predator character Uno'caro.I really dig the armor, but I also think that it's almost too fancy for the average Predator. It's something about the high contrast between the black plates and the gold trim that's doing that. Predator goes Warhammer...
Accomplished with ink, watercolor and colored pencils.

Jet black/coal blue and gold makes a glorious combination of colors.

SHINY FOR THE WIN!
Too fancy or not, the armor is really quite keen. I also like the silvery-grey outlines on the weapons, and the warmish reflected light on them. Did you ink those and then use a pencil over the ink, or did you just use a colored pencil to outline the weapons?

Thank you very much. I'm still of two minds about whether or not the spiffed-up armor works. It works aesthetically, but it's definitely three shades off of canon.
I did ink the drawing, then I nearly obliterated it with cadmium red and cobolt blue watercolor. I did quite a bit of re-working and re-defining with the Prismas. All of the linework that is still visible was done with the Prismas.

Well, no reall interesting comments from me, but I like how you broke up all that blue with the red. I think the picture would have been swamped otherwise.

It's incongruous, I know, but the first thought I had was, "She should really be illustrating children's books." (You, not the deadly lady in the painting.)
I couldn't put my finger on it before, but now I'm closer to figuring it out: your style is reminiscent of someone who illustrated books I read as a child. Color choice, line, composition--not just this picture, but many of your others--if I can figure it out, I'll let you know.
Anyway, great job--and now, for no reason at all, I'll have this title in my head: "JoJo and Predator Go Grocery Shopping!"

LOL - Wonderful! That is probably the most interesting collection of thoughts I've seen on this picture yet.
I've only done one (unpublished) children's book to date: The Polka-Dot Vampire it was, and it, too, had a psychadelic color scheme (and a classic vampire with a polka-dotted red hankie of a cape). I haven't actively pursued children's book illustration due to the restrictions imposed upon the field by the Politically Correct crowd. I think I'd have to find just the right author to work with if I were to try another one.
I'm certain that there are deeply buried influences on my art that I picked up when I was little, but I can never be certain about what those things are until I see them again. I would indeed be interested to know whose style this reminds you of if you are able to find the reference.

Surprise, surprise... Of course the first thing I noted was the nice dark blue color of the armor. No wonder, since my favorite color IS blue! I like the contrast between the gold and blue, they boost each others effects and make them seem even stronger. The armor is absolutely beautiful... I mean, who wouldn't want to have an armor THAT detailed? It's to die for!

The strongly blue highlights make the armor look more blue than black, don't they... Though I was originally shooting for just "black," I ended up with something bordering on slightly iridescent. I like the effect, even though it's a bit exaggerated from my original intentions.

I LOVE his armor! He could be wearing ceremonial armor... I can't get over how good you are at painting. *glares at own work* Must take some classes or something... Those are some effing huge blades.

LOL - Thanks! Honestly, it's just persistence that has gotten my art skills to their current level. There's plenty of older work (even in this gallery) that shows that it's been an uphill battle. I just try techniques and color combinations again and again until I get the effects to the point I want 'em to be. I'm only just now beginning to experiment with digitally enhanced artwork; I still have much to learn about that aspect.
Yeah, I think it's pretty definitely ceremonial armor. Too flashy by far, and those honkin' big blades are not particularly practical, even if they're nifty-looking.
