Description
This is ~Torachande 's Predator character, Sin. Sin is not a nice guy. In fact, Sin is just about as Not Nice as they come. If anyone here is familiar with the Goa'uld from the Stargate series and furthermore realizes exactly what could happen if a Goa'uld takes a Predator as a host... Well, then you have figured out what Sin is like on a good day.I made this with pen and ink, a watercolor wash, and Prismacolor pencils.

LOL - Thanks very much. Β
...As far as I know, Cetanu's an equal opportunity employer. Β None of the canon material I've seen said that this god's priesthood was limited to females only. Β Is that something from one of the computer games?

Heh. I think that was Forever Midnight. John Shirley had NO IDEA what he was doing - purposefully, if I remember correctly. He'd seen the first Predator movie, then wrote that story, with the blessing of 20th Century Fox. There were some layer novels by other authors that were much better. The most recent AvP series by Tim Lebbon was great. The Predator anthology If It Bleeds was also fantastic.

The closest one to a wolf is the jackal-god Anubis, but I do not remember if Anubis was in the Stargate series.

Torachande gets most of the credit on this one - Unfortunately, both of us ran out of time to do the Stargate/AvP crossover properly. Maybe when I retire from my day job...

Thanks!
Really, it seemed like a perfect fit. Stargate had a kind of hats-off to Predators with a couple of different races, but Torachande and I figured that we could take the idea even farther by throwing in an actual Predator with a well-matched Goa'uld parasite to create some awesome havok in that universe. Still gotta get the story worked out on paper, though. Been a long process.

np ^^
and yea! the Goauld and predators are a perfect fit, and you chose a good parasite for this Predator XD now does he pose as a specific god of something? my Xenomorph Goauld is just like a Horus guard (low ranking Goauld) he aint fit to be a bad ass system lord like your predator guy XD

rachaelm5 In reply to GeneralDroid [2008-03-14 23:54:03 +0000 UTC]
Torachande designed the Predator-Goa'uld as a god-impersonator of the Predator pantheon. I don't know if we ever decided on which god, but it would have been one of the Fallen Gods that the Perrys glossed over in the AvP: Prey novel. Definitely system lord material, and a badass with an army of predalien/Goa'uld hybrids, to boot. We're talking about the potential extinction on a galactic scale, here. It's at about this point that we throw in a bunch of our Predator characters, some original characters developed by our writer groupies, and the cast of Stargate SG-1. Epic stuff, but alas, still all in our heads.
Pardon me... I seem to be having a sever Fannish moment, complete with fan-babble and Crossovers. Right. Back to reality.

LOL - Glad I didn't make your brain hemhorrage...
If you haven't read Alien vs Predator: Prey, I definitely recommend it. It's by Steve and Stephanie Perry. I believe it's still in print, and it is by far one of the best Aliens/Predator stories out there. The novel is based on the original comic series of the same title, and the Predators have something resembling character development. Most of the Predator characters you'll see out there (prior to about 2004 when the first AvP movie came out) are based on the character development, culture, quasi-religious structure, language, etc, presented in this novel. It's become the Predator enthusiasts' bible, and a lot of the weird language you'll see in fan fiction with reference to Predators comes directly from this book.
No Goa'uld in the Predator universe, unfortunately. At least not in stories that have been Officially Sanctioned. The Hollyweird producers just don't seem to like cool crossover ideas, and when they DO find one they like, they tend to mangle it. So I don't think we'll let them get a hold of Aliens vs Predator vs Stargate SG-1.
The predalien/Goa'uld hybrids occupied several different ranks, though they did their best work as shock-troops - not nearly as smart as Jafaa, but just as deadly, and capable of using tools and weapons of Goa'uld design (energy weapons and the like). Although... I may be wrong about that smarts thing. I think I'd decided to tuck in a couple of Alien Queens to help keep the troops on the ball, and to help ol' Sin coordinate his ground tactics.
Sin, the Predator/Goa'uld, is both System Lord and god poser - the way Torachande was writing him, Sin was the epitome of all that is Nasty, Bad and Generally Vile in Predator culture. He's a killer of his own kind, a rules-breaker - a "bad blood" that Predator law enforcement is going to have to hunt down and exterminate. Preferably before he decimates three-quarters of the galaxy. I think we got some bits and pieces of the story floating around between our two galleries. I'd been working the Predator angle, mostly, while Torachade was working on the Predator/Goa'uld bits (since Sin is his character and most of the law enforcers are mine). I posed about three dozen questions to Torachande in order to get a better feel for Sin since I was going to start writing from his point of view. We got a little ways through the interrogation, but I really couldn't get inside his head very well. He didn't have much in the way of motivation for his Galactic Conquest and Extermination agenda; it was Just Because. I can't work with that very well; I tend toward the machiavellian in my villians and needed to give the matter some thought before I proceeded farther. That was, oh, eighteen monthsh ago, maybe more. I got stalled out due to real-world nonsense and a huge, heaping pile of art projects that distracted me from the writing project. As Torachande hasn't sent out a raiding party to hijack me and my writing pad, I do think that I'll try to get back to the story one of these days, as I'm a die-hard fan of all three series.
...And after I get done with that, I think I'm gonna tackle Predator vs. Transformers. I mean, honestly, sometimes those ships seem to act like they have minds of their own, and Decepticon seige projects can take hundreds of years to "mature". Who's to say that someone won't wind up with a big robot head on his trophy wall come the end of a long day's hunt? LOL - pure schtick, lots of violent fun. Badguys, even when they're not particularly machiavellian, are great fun to write.

Nah, Sin is all finished in his present state. I put in the linework for some firey effects in the background, but decided not to use them. If anything, I'll probably try to work Sin into a story (with Torachande's blessing) so that I can have the pure adrenaline rush of writing a *really* bad badguy.

I was a little worried, though - his skin tone came out WAY more red than I'd originally intended. I can blame it on the lightning, sure, but in the end I lost control of the pencils and that damned Crimson Lake was the ringleader of a vicious Color Cartel...

Hey Hey! My first glimpse into predator fan art~ I gotta wonder, have you ever played Alien vs. Predator from Capcom? It was an arcade side scrolling beat-em-up with 2 preds and 2 cyborgs (one a hottie, one a large muscly guy)
π: 0 β©: 1
rachaelm5 In reply to Radiant-Grey [2005-10-15 13:38:06 +0000 UTC]
Really? This is your first foray into Predator fan art? Wicked... This is probably one of the weirder Sci-Fi crossovers I've done, too, so it really may be a bad example. The Predator is not a normal fellow at all.
I only saw Capcom's AvP game once while I was dragged into an arcade by a friend. I loved the animation, but I've never been any good with fighter games. I just kinda watched over people's shoulders while they kicked buggy butt.
The hottie was supposed to resemble Machiko Noguchi from the original AvP comic series, and the big muscly guy, I suspect, was either Dutch or his older brother (from the comics). I regret that I never had a chance to at least read up on the story that Capcom used for that game.

Radiant-Grey In reply to rachaelm5 [2005-10-16 14:57:18 +0000 UTC]
i looked it up and that big half cyborg dude was in fact Dutch from Predator 1! I'm just stoked because I never never noticed it through all these years If you ever happen upon the original arcade game (rare as it is) definitely pump some quarters into it... it seems no matter how good you are at fighting games, the aliens always knock you around faster than you can say 'gameover man!'
