Done in PSCS2, hope this works on the earlier versions, too~
Not the best rain 'tut around, but I'd be SO- happy if you can find this useful

You went trough all the details (main rain, sprinkle, stroke, mist, drop) and didn't leave a blind point about your tecnique. And if that weren't enough awesomeness, it seems that this does not need a pen/tablet to work 
Thank you very much, this is the most useful and easy-to-understand tutorial for rain effect I've seen sice I started my search.

That works so damn well man! Great job!
Advice though, you don't need to put the sprinkles on the distant background-it's so far away you shouldn't be able to see that. Instead, put more mist on the background. Hope it helped!

Good methods, ones I'll probably be using soon. To nitpick, I think you went a little crazy with the large droplets, but that's my opinion.
