When I first sent my probes to explore the lands of the northwestern Continent, I couldn’t have imagined how Lucky I was, that the first creature I saw was a Lamanua.
For these majestic creatures are some of the most elusive beings on the entire planet.
With their tendency to run away as soon as they perceive the slightest amount of movement they not only avoid predation, but also the curious eyes of me and my team.
The only way to get a really good look at them is with static camouflaged camera drones.
Of course, the simple fact that these tall gracile creatures have evolved such drastic avoidance measures, leads to the conclusion that there must be a truly frightening predator, stalking these Arctic Jungles, that drove them to this extreme.
Reaching a size of up to 2.5m and weighing 150kg on average, they would be considered Megafauna on this High Gravity Planet. But because we do not yet know where the boundary between Plants and Animals lies, or if there even is one in the first place, we usually refrain from such terminology, using it only as a proxy.
They are in many ways ordinary compared to other creatures on their planet.
Although strange to us, their unique limb configuration of one in the front, two on the side and one in the back, is shared as an ancestral trait by all other creatures in their Phylum.
But they also exhibit very unique characteristics.
Such as their calls that sound like howling wind. Which together with their shyness, lead my team and me to give them the nickname “Ghosts Of The Forest”.
