Description

Every day, always at the same time, the rains return over the northern continents.
And with the rains, come the Predators.
With their forms hidden by the downpour and their sounds drowned out by its noise, they begin their hunt.
They are virtually impossible to spot.
Helped by their uncanny ability to remain practically motionless, they are the perfect arboreal ambush predator.
For a creature on the forest floor, they are mostly invisible. Yet they can be spotted if one happens to catch a glimpse of them in motion.
Because of the planet’s high gravity and thin atmosphere they are only able to jump short distances. Always seeming to just barely be able to make it to the next tree.
And yet they never fall…

Although sluggish when climbing, their light and powerful build allows them to jump very efficiently from tree to tree.
Once they’ve found their unlucky prey, they calmly lurk in the trees above it, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
And when one of them feels like that moment has come, they all lunge themselves at their victim.
However, they do not seem to coordinate their hunts. Rather every individual of the pack seems to be out for themselves. Surprisingly, they do not cooperate or communicate in any way with each other, and only stick together to steal another's kill. This consequently leads to many failed hunts, as an early lunge or a badly timed jump by a single individual can spell disaster for the whole group.
Yet when this happens, no one seems to blame the other, and the whole group simply moves on and tries again.
