Description ... originally built in 1885 as the residence for pioneer lumberman William Carson, this private members-only club is located in the Old Town district of Eureka, California. This peculiarly ornate bit of 19th-century architecture caught my eye while on my way back from San Diego, cruising up the Pacific Coast Highway 101... the grounds were so well-manicured, they looked like someone had been trimmed them on their hands and knees, leaf-by-leaf with a pair of scissors...

Hi, I did a search for other images of the club and since you liked the building, I thought you might like to see a couple of my images with the Carson Mansion and the Pink Lady. The shots were taken by me last month. Enjoy!

... and thanks for blowing the dust off this old stock image I captured back in August 2003!! I got this quality shot with a pocket Cybershot, leaning on the roof of my truck because I didn't have a tripod...

... yes, it's a pretty trippy building, shocking that I managed to capture it so clearly without using a tripod... I'm continually getting stock use replies off this for making "spooky house" photomanips...

Wow kind of reminds me of pictures I've seen of the Winchester house, the one with all those rooms built by the daughter of the inventor of the Winchester rifle? This is an amazing gingerbread of a house!

Wow thought I recognised it ... this is one of those memories from my younger years .. not that I been to Cali at all .. "The Carson Mansion", as I've come to know it, was used heavily (may still be) to demo old cad plotters and I have a lovingly kept cad plot of the front elevation of this building ... thanks muchly for posting the original

Beautiful architecture. I love the immaculate way the property is maintained and the overall feeling of "members only" it seems to portray.

I better stop by now and comment now while I still remember for all things on my Devwatch has been cleared. Some of the old houses definately had charm and distinction. The architecture is very eye catching and beautiful with the only thing maring the full appreciation of the house is the green awning. This reminds me of an old section in the Echo Park district in LA where it has a street with old houses like this one and the street is still cobblestone with fancy iron posts to tie your horse (at least it was 10 years ago when I lived in L.A. and it still might be if it was declared a historic site). Thanks for sharing.

Wow........what do I think

Like to live there? No, who does the cleaning..........

Would like to model it? Sure, but I'm so damn lazy.......

Would like to spend some days off there? No, I bet it has ghosts

But, for sure, this is a very beautiful mansion...........
