Description
I dramatically reduced the height of this ship, essentially eliminating the many decks that comprise the "neck" of the original design. In addition to eliminating a tempting target, think it gives the ship a sleeker, more aggressive stance. It also creates one nice, long, clean, continuous, sweeping line that goes all the way from from "10 Forward," up over the top of the saucer, and all the way down the "back" to the trailing torpedo tube. I lowered the warp nacelles slightly.

Instead of "chopping off" the front of the secondary hull, to form the "eye-shaped" opening that contained the main navigational deflector, I opted to let the sweeping lines of the secondary hull extend forward a bit to complete that form. Then I added a slim glowing blue slot for the main navigational deflector.

In this side view, you can see that the bottom of the saucer section is essentially flat. I eliminated the several decks that were originally there. Also note that I removed the "flared-out" section of the blue glowing warp coils just behind the Bussard collectors. I've always liked the very linear feel of Excelsior's warp nacelles, so this subtle change was a nod to that.

On the lower half of the engineering hull you may be able to see a horizontal gray stripe. This stripe contains 12 "Galactica-style" launch tubes for fighters. Four face forward, four face to port, and four face to starboard.
