Description I'm a huge fan of Star Wars and all things Mandalorian, so I was beyond psyched to hear about the new upcoming live-action series entitled "The Mandalorian."  So I couldn't wait to try to build the feature ship from this series.  So, based on available imagery, I put together a few images of the main character's Gunship - "The Razor Crest."  It will be fun learning about this ship, its history, its capabilities, and any tricks that it may have hidden up its sleeve.  While we wait for all of that to unfold on the screen, I hope that fellow Mandalorian enthusiasts will enjoy these images.

I'm right there with you!  I only hope that my expectations aren't so stratospherically high that the show won't be able to live up to them.  Maybe not.  I'm just going to so grateful for a show about a badass Mandalorian.  Hopefully I won't quibble too much about the details.

Same company or another company buy them out and tell them, do what you do best sell and upgrade ships so you can make us some Star credits

Thanks so much!  Yeah, research was a big part of this project.  (Thanks for noticing and appreciating that!)  I think that there was just enough reference material out there to manage this project.  The first time that I built it, all of the basic geometry was correct, but the proportions were all just a little bit wrong.  I took a couple of "pictures" of it, and superimposed them over images of the actual model used for the show, and saw where I had gone wrong.  Then, reluctantly, I ditched the first model, and started all over again to build a new model to correct all of those issues.  So now it's pretty darn close.

With regard to the Clone Wars era dropships, I think you're talking about the old LAAT/i's (Larties).  Yeah, I see the similarities too.  The tall fuselage, stretch cockpit mounted way up front, no nose, side and rear doors, high-mounted wings, and the sharply angled aft section.  It made me thing of that design too.  But this design has MUCH bigger engines.  Come to think of it, the Larties had almost no engines at all.  Those big pods on top were weapons not engines.  I've always liked the Larties, but that particular detail always confused me.  It was like they finished the design without ever including any engines.  Then they called out some tiny box on the back and called that an engine almost as an afterthought.  I think that ship was originally intended as an atmospheric-flight-only kind of a ship (for Episode 2).  Then, later on, (for the Clone Wars) they decided (as a retcon) to make it space-capable.  It was probably the right call, since atmospheric-only dropships don't make a lot of sense in the Star Wars universe, but the lack of any appropriately-sized engines was the price that they paid for that retcon.  The decision to make it space-capable also prompted the need to give it doors that actually closed, as opposed to the open-door design that was featured in Episode 2.  I read somewhere that the Larties were inspired by the Hind helicopter gunships and the old Huey Helicopters.  This ship might share some similar influences.  Thanks again for your great comment!

Yeah, I guess my boundless enthusiasm may be setting me up for disappointment.  Oh well, I've already had a lot of fun working on this project.  And we are bound to learn a lot more about Mandalorians, and this particular spot in the Star Wars timeline, so that's all good.

So, even if the series does not fare well, it would still be a source of information and I bet you'd use all of that to enrich your stories .... but maybe I should be more optimistic considering Star Wars have been doing much better in side-projetcs than their main movies
