I'm envious. A small chunk of figured maple like this one would cost a kidney here, in Oz! lol By the way... Did you get your band saw fixed?

I get lucky at the wood store with the end cuts. I just pick up a 4"x 8"x 24" of very figured maple for $20. Its just the draw of the dice when they have small blocks. Yes, I machined new bearing guides for the for the poor thing and re-sawed some walnut to test. I would like to make a kalimba for myself, but I'm trying to finish a harp.

Seriously! You're building a harp? I'm also currently working on one, but nothing real fancy... No harmonic curve nor thin veneer soundboard. I'm just building a prototype based on an old Pictish design (very geometric). I bet yours will look awesome! Can't wait to see it!

The harp I'm working on is a prototype too. This one will have a sound board made from Blood wood and Sapele. (my wood store had a sale on Sapele). I had to get the old band saw working so I could cut the rest of the wood I needed. Hope to see some pics of yours when your done.

Thank you, I enjoy making things, but I fill I cheat a little. ( The wood grain does most of the work.) I get lucky with some of the color in the wood.

Very nice, I can practically feel the silky finish on that! Also, I love how the wavy, flowing grain on the top piece is echoed in the wolf figure in the corner.

Thanks. It sounds great. There not hard to make, just a box and I use fishing tape for the keys.
