Description This is the last tree teapot I will make for a long while. I cannot tell at all what I think about this one. It drooped a lot in the kiln, and it turned out a lot darker than I planned on.

Farewell to the teapot.

Thank you for the interest, but I no longer make these and all the teapots I have left are in people's collections. I have a friend who makes them too and sells them on Etsy. His gallery is sparse right now, but more will come, and if you contact him he'd be more than happy to make one for you. You can find him here .

lol, well thank you for the interest! I no longer make this work, and all the tree teapots I made belong to friends and family now... :/

I do have a friend who's making them if you're really wanting to buy one. I think it'll cost you a pretty penny though

I talked to my friend about selling his work. He said he can part with a small tree teapot for $50-75 + S/H. Let me know if you're interested, he sounded excited to sell.

wow, this is stunning. I love that you can see it as a tree stump, yet also as a teapot, depending on how you look at it - kind of like those old lady/young woman, two faces/a vase optical illusion pictures. very nice work.

That's a teapot? How do you put the tea in the pot? THat is a peace of work i would have to look over many times to find the lid. Great works...and bye the way it isn't a teapot..it's a tree-pot

lol get it

rebootmaster2001 In reply to Sindaj [2009-11-19 16:57:29 +0000 UTC]

lol, well thanks! I'm glad you like it and I could "stump" you hehe

The lid is the heartwood in the center. It pulls out and reveals a hole.

Ahh that's neat, that would be somthing i would have at a party and something and all the guests wouldbe like "Where's the tea?" I'd be like "It's in the tree." xD

Lol...tree puns xD

You did a wonderful job capturing the texture of aged wood. Even if it "drooped" and didn't turn out the way you envisioned, it lends the piece a more natural appearance.

That is absolutely f***ing amazing! Not only does it look like real wood, but the patients and care needed to make it, with the possibility of breakage before firing, let alone afterwards!

I understand that you had a (slightly?) different vision for it, but DAMN, that is The Awesome!( to use common vernacular, lol) What size is this one, and are these just class projects or are you selling them, or ....?

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

rebootmaster2001 In reply to liquidether [2009-01-26 06:11:12 +0000 UTC]

lol, well thank you. I did have a different vision for it in a lot of small ways, but overall formally I feel it could be better. I used black and red iron oxide in a reduction cooling atmosphere for the color, which is why it is so black. I just didn't expect the blackness to be this extreme since the kiln I've been using the reduction cooling method on has been rather sketchy.

I'm glad that you like it though. This was a class project/art trade. I haven't sold any teapots, never really thought about it. Shipping them seems a little scary to me. I've done it, but there is no guarantee.

liquidether In reply to rebootmaster2001 [2009-01-26 06:37:19 +0000 UTC]

Shipping these beauties would scare me too. And I love the uncertainty of kilns.....well, most of the time anyway!
So, since this piece was an art trade, I take that to mean it has found a home? If for any reason he has not, please let me know

rebootmaster2001 In reply to liquidether [2009-01-26 06:15:23 +0000 UTC]

Well that is really good to know. Personally my favorite is the one featured on my page because I feel the bark texture and color turned out better than expected. However, I have compared these two and the top of this one is what separates the two. I just wish I got that texture on this teapot I guess. I'll have to re-think my featured item perhaps...

Your treepots are just utterly fantastic. I think the droop and darkness gives it the perfect feel of a sturdy old log in a rainy forest.
