Description
Since many people asked me how I edit my traditionally made drawings in Photoshop, I made this tutorial today to explain everything as clearly as I can. I know that scanners often ruin the colors and that's very frustrating. I hope my tips will help you with that problem. There are some screenshots where it's hard to find any differences between them but it's just because of the picture I chose for this tutorial (my scanned image is actually very bright and clean).
If any problems, don't hesitate to ask me :]. I used Adobe Photoshop CS3 for this tutorial but I think other versions should allow you to do the same as me.

Such a helpful tuts!
I wanna ask you something if you don't mind.
I always have problems when scanning my traditional art which is in A3 size. While my scanner is in A4/letter size only.
When I scanned the A3 into 3 parts, they are so hard to be combined. Especially when the drawing is colorful. The parts don't have same color anymore >>> I couldn't combine them.
So, do you have any tips? Thanks

Sharp is good. Blurry is bad.
Especially with detailed drawings.

Yes, with detailed drawings we have to be careful when using Blur. That's why I always set the opacity to 20% or less.

Thanks for this awesome tutorial! In my opinion it's quite detailed, it has a lot of fine techniques of Ps that can improve my scans greatly. It's absolutely useful, especially there aren't much tutorials around dA concerning scanlation imrpovements.

Niestety ostatnio umarlo calkowicie. Ja juz takie urzadzonko mam gdzies, bo jakos skanera byla zalosna. Stawial mi ciemne plamy na obrazach ktore w dodatku byly rozmazane. Edycja kazdej pracy to strasznie duzo dlubania i mam tego dosyc. Chce kupic sobie skaner. Drukareczke niech rodzina zakupi, ja juz tego starego trolla kupilam Teraz pytanie. Czy skaner Epson Stylus V300 to dobry zakup? Oczywiscie jesli go znasz.

I remember having hard time trying to fix a scan of my drawing coloured with Crayola crayons few years ago. I got depressed because I couldn't make it look better (the colours were totally destroyed). Luckily,I finally found nice tricks in Photoshop and decided to share them here with deviantart community
