Description

The Obbeeysian Queen Consort class was designed by Quinn Fulton in 1908. This class of 2-6-2PT engines was the most powerful tank engine of the Nobility Line before she went away to the UK to study and work at W. G. Bagnall, Andrew Barclay Sons & Co, Manning Wardle and Hunslet Engine Company, studying about two years at each. The following designs made by her would be more even more successful compared to the previous classes of the series.

The Queen Consort class was capable of reaching a boiler pressure of up to 210 psi when first built. Over time, their boilers were replaced multiple times during overhauls with boilers capable of reaching higher pressures. These engines also featured an improved version of Quinns own inside valve gear. This version of valve gear would be slowly be introduced to her earlier classes over the following decade.

The prototype of this class would be bought by the Obbeeysian Coal Mining Company, as well as one other non-faceless member and three faceless members. In 1930, the prototype was involved in a landslide and damaged its frames and motion severely. It was put in a siding for two months, when the boiler of one of the pumping engines at the Struan Department suddenly broke down completely. In a hurry for a new boiler, the prototype was turned into a pumping engine, staying like that for five years before being converted back into an engine. Two of the three faceless members of this class owned by the Obbeeysian Coal Mining Company were allocated to the Blein Coal Mine.
