Conformation: Maddie has an ideal build for a KWPN. He has a refined, straight profile, and soft, expressive eyes. For his body he sports a rectangular frame, a lightly uphill build, an arched neck, and long legs for his height. He has good propulsion in the hind, to which he owes his natural jumping talent. His hooves and legs are not in the best condition as they were not properly cared for in his youth, though his enduring soundness is a testament to their base quality; he wears special shoes for additional assistance, so that he will remain competition-ready well into his prime.
Temperament: Very calm, gentle, and easygoing, with the absolute sweetest temperament -- Maddie is made of nothing but love. He's the absolute dear of everyone at ARS! He has a very strong intuition and will size up any situation before making moves. Under his subdued exterior he is tenacious and intelligent, a quick learner, and very willing. Maddie tends to get nervous around humans due to past mistreatment, so being introduced to new folks in a slow manner and controlled setting is best for him. Being sold very suddenly and shipped cross-continent set back his progress with learning to trust people a bit, but ARS has been working very hard to get him back on track. Once he gets attached to you and you gain his trust, he'll happily do whatever you ask of him. He does just fine around other horses, being friendly and largely unaffected by any shenanigans. He has such a relaxed and polite temperament one might think he was a gelding or mare at first.
Handling: Maddie handles quite well, so long as he's in a controlled setting. He is not very high-energy and has smooth gaits, with a soft mouth -- he is quite responsive to lighter cues. Over jumps he is careful and precise with good roundness. His biggest flaws are being a touch slow and having a lower scope, but he is relaxed even in work and makes for lovely hunter and jumper material. On the flat, Maddie is easy to lead and ride, and almost never bucks or throws off his rider. He does like to stop to eat the grass on the side of the road or fence-line whenever he passes by. Due to his harrowed past, he tends to pace when he gets nervous and is prone to kicking if you approach him from behind suddenly; he's not a huge fan of the farrier either, but is getting used to being shoed and having his hooves touched. He has already graduated to standing quietly and without complaint while being groomed, and ARS expects similar behavior to follow in other aspects of his working life!
Spooks: Car horns, gunshots, shouting, and other sudden loud noises. ARS is working on desensitization training with him.
Favorite Treat: Celery

History: Murder's early life is relatively unknown, but it is known that he was subjected to either abuse or neglect by his original owners. He was rescued by a group called Horses 4Ever, and then purchased by Garden Eden Stables as a birthday present for their former co-founder, Adam Lewandowsky. He was trained in showjumping and showed some promise as a future competition star.
  Due to the circumstances behind Adam's resignation, he was put up for sale quite suddenly in order to make up some costs. With Ashe Rune Stables being recently founded at the time, they were interested in purchasing some already-trained horses to start working with. The stable was more than happy to take on a few GES horses to form their founding stock!
After being purchased and shipped to ARS from Poland, he was very fearful, but given some time to settle in he mellowed back out to his truer personality. Ashe Rune Stables has been working with him closely on sensitivity training in addition to conditioning work, in order to prepare him for the showjumping ring again and help to bring back his confidence. They are also considering hiring a rider that specializes in both hunter and jumper classes, as he shows promise in both; until then, his training is a stable-wide effort to get him as much exposure in all fields as possible.
