Description
Okies, , here's how manga panelling works.1. Vertically, there MUST NOT BE MORE THAN 4 PANELS (tingkat)
2. Horizontally, there MUST NOT BE MORE THAN 3 PANELS. (see num 4)
3. In example num 1, u can see that the horizontal lines doesn't necessaryly be exactly horizontal, u can make them go upward or downwards. This is to avoid the panels looking...monotonous.
4. In example number 4, the HUGE panel which consumes 2 pages usually used to show a HUGE place, like a castle or some wide area, or a wonderful view.
5. Usually to end a chapter, we use a huge panel for the last panel. See example 3.
6. In example 2, u can draw a whole character outside all the panels (depending on situations)
Basically, u just have to make sure the manga doesn't look TOO STUFFY and NEAT and CLEAR and IN ORDER, so it'll be easier on the eyes of the reader.

Wowee! Are you professional? I'm always so absorbed in reading the story that I don't observe the panel layout. You should go pro, if you don't already.

O_o; no, i'm not a pro, nobody know me, unlike I'm trying, but i have to get off my lazy butt first.
I joined a doujinshi group, but i havent submitted anything yet, but yes, i'm trying to go pro. ^^ Not for fame, just to live up to my dreams.
I just happened to notice how they'r used, that's all, not that i "observe" them, haha, i have short attention span.

I read manga all the time. I just never knew there were rules about how to do the paneling

Rinoa18 In reply to kagome147 [2004-11-13 15:07:14 +0000 UTC]
Well...not exactly tight rules, nee. I mean, u can do the panels any way u like, but these are just guidelines so it wouldn't look stuffy.
