Description
This is the cover and back cover to my daughter's birthday party invitation. We are only inviting immediate and extended family so I feel bad that I'm only sending a few of these out in the mail.I wanted to recapture the grungier Sesame Street from my childhood days. The Sesame Street books back in the 70's were illustrated with such a unique group of artists. I still have all of mine!
Now Elmo and Zoe rule all with their neon poppy colors and mass produced clip art illustrations...DAMN YOU ELMO...DAMN YOU TO HELL!!!!
I miss all the un-PC characters like Roosevelt Franklin, The Two-headed Monster, Frazzle, Herry Monster, Bruno the Construction Worker, Guy Smiley, Sherlock Hemlock, The sleazy street vendor guy, and that crazed piano player that used to smash his head on the keyboard.

yes, what really kills the newer episodes for me though is the music, though they did remove the headbanging piano guy because some little kids were starting to copy him.

Yup. I'd suggest getting the book and the soundtrack. The soundtrack has all those wonderful, don't-play-them-for-your-kids songs, and the book...well aside from having all sorts of info on the play, it also has lots of stuff done in the style of a Sesame Street magazine.

I was born in '79 and in the early 80s Sesame Street was a staple even here in Germany. Jim Henson was a genius on so many levels - amazingly realistic puppets like in The Storyteller and simple critters like Sesame Street and The Muppet Show had. It's one of my wishes to become as stylistically versatile as him while retaining such a high level of content. 'My' Cookie Monster stuffed himself with pastries like a hog and I tend to believe I turned out OK nonetheless ...

I know, he was so versatile, and to think he started out on a public access channel with home-made puppets, that is so cool. the man had a vision and he took it so far. A true success story!
He is my all-time hero and idol. One of the saddest days of my life was when I came home from school and my mom told me he passed away
