Description
One of my favorite films as a kid was Superman II. I designed this cereal box in honor of the three Kryptonian Criminals that wreak havok on rural Texas towns where the children speak in British accents.I didn't know that Kryptonians could shoot lasers through their fingers too? Has anyine seen the Richard Donner Director's cut yet?
"SON OF JOR-EL.....KNEEL BEFORE ZOD!!!!!!"

Personally, my favourite aspect of Richard Donner's cut is the footage with the late Marlon Brando as Jor-El....just like I'm more of a fan of the original Jerry Siegel comics of the 1930s wherein Superman was more of a badass.

reminds me of a "wacky packages" sticker. Licorice flavored corn cereal? Blaurgh! about as worse as strawberry-banana flavored Urkele-O's. Sure I'll kneel before Zod.....If Zod was a toliet! LOL great pic!

Haha. Excellent. Yeah that always bugged me, the kid with the English accent. And I'm English!
On the Superman DVD they explain that British Equity, the actors union, insisted on British actors for all support roles in Superman, which was filmed mainly on our shores. Richard Donner had the good sense to overdub bad accents with authentic US accents, but I guess Richard Lester couldn't be bothered for the second movie.
Keep up the good work.

Lester did so many weird things with that movie. Ever see the Donner cut? It makes so much more sense story wise. Except it is laced with hard to watch BAD digital effects!
I crack up whenever I watch the scene where the kid falls into Niagra Falls. That scared the crap out of me as a little kid. But then visiting Niagra falls years later, the drop would take a couple seconds to hit, not two minutes of free-falling. HA!!!

MrBrowne In reply to RobbVision [2009-09-16 09:20:03 +0000 UTC]
Yeah I watched the Donner version. They obviously did the best they could to show us what he intended but those digital effects do take away from the experience.
For me however the story seems a little rushed on the Donner version, although I like the fact he took out some of Lester's silly gags, like the French policeman with the dictionary. The Eiffel tower scene was 100 times better!
I still believe that if he hadn't been fired Superman 2 would have been a better movie and it was nice seeing some new footage, but at the same time a Richard Donner DVD cut seemed unnecessary to me. It was never gonna hold up to the finished, polished final version.
Yeah, I guess you could call the Niagra scene an exercise in artistic license.

Yeah that is cool. I saw Terrence Stamp eight years ago on my way to work in central London. He was standing by a bus stop. I couldn't believe it. I didn't get an autograph and regret it to this day.

I still actually prefer to watch the old Lester version, so many memories with that one.
Margot Kidder came to my hometown a few years go to perform in the Vagina Dialogs. That was really cool seeing her up on stage and remembering watching her all those years in those movies, kind of surreal.
