Description One of my favorite films as a kid was Superman II. I designed this cereal box in honor of the three Kryptonian Criminals that wreak havok on rural Texas towns where the children speak in British accents.

I didn't know that Kryptonians could shoot lasers through their fingers too? Has anyine seen the Richard Donner Director's cut yet?

I love acrylic paints. It is what I use for my traditional paintings and my sculptures. I am currently in college and going onto my 5th year (longer stay due to costs). I am studing 3d modeling and concept design on the side. i love the traditional arts and am trying to adapt into the digital. It's a little harder for me to do digital work, not because it is difficult for me to do, but because it doesn't interest me as much as traditional. Sadly, there are larger oppertunities in the digital arts now and days. I just need to find my happy ballance.

I know what you mean...but everything goes in cycles...its good to know both! Nice that you are doing both too...they both benefit eachother too. I use digital roughs as color models for my watercolors...much easier to plan out. My digital graphic design background really has supported my illusutration over the years.

i use acrylic paints on my sculptures also. i work a lot in Sculpey, but not as much as I used to. I am not a releigeous person...neither is my mom, but I sculpted her a Nativity set for Christmas back in 2000 and I add a few pieces every year. That is pretty much the only sculpting I've been doing lately. i would love to do some more stuff, a lot like what you are doing....VERY kick ass!

What was the cool Bat-head sculpt made from...clay? it looks real!!!

WOW! That is such a cool idea to sculpt a nativity scene! I have been trying to think of what to give to my mom for Christmas. That is perfect. My family is very religious. Do you have any pictures of yours? I would love to see them. I would love to see your sculptures.

I'm a little afraid of posting them....because they do not hold a candle to the stuff you are doing...as well as some of the other sculptors on DA! I think i might post them...but they will be a small pic so people cannot see the "bad anatomy"....

your sculpts are flawless!!!!

I have some fun dragons i will post!!

You're welcome! For me, as a kid, I think it was Ursa's obsession with badges and her outright disdain towards men that scared me, but found myself liking her because of those aspects, go figure! Yea, you're right, she did kill an astronaut and that did make me a bit uncomfortable when you hear his air escaping from the rip.

I was freaked out how Non crushed the landing craft and how they threw that guy in outerspace. when I was a kid I was terrified at the vastness of space...weird! Yet I still loved the star wars films...go figure.

I have yet to see the Donner version of Superman II and lack the time due to my workload at...well work! They were to my knowledge just many of the bad guys I can remember growing up in the 80's that I actually liked better than the good guys but still rooted when the good won. The MCP from TRON is another example I always thought he had a great sounding and commanding voice, even as a kid hearing this. Though the digitization scene with Jeff Bridges scared me to bits (no pun intended).

But it is always good to see another person who grew up in the 70's and 80's! BTW, digged your rendition of Blue Falcon!

Yeah...you and I are close to the same age!

the Donner version was cool! I'm just so used to the theatrical version. The Donner version tied up a lot of unanswered questions and weird things that happened in the theatrical release.

I always did like the villians more, but still rooted for the good guys. My favorites were always Darth Vader...Skeletor...Megatron....but enjoyed seeing them lose...weird.

I got REALLY freaked out in Superman 3 when that creepy woman was turned into a robot by Richard Pryor's super computer. Lots of my friends admitted that to me too, that that scene disturbed them. Today when i see it, it makes me chuckle.

Whoa! You too? Just recently seen Superman III (in pieces) and that scene was disturbing to me as a kid, but now it it's funny seeing a robot with a Pat Benitar Hairdo! Funny thing , it was an *improvement* on the woman! I really think they underused Richard Pryor in that movie, but made up for it with the Clark Kent/drunk Superman fight scene. Too bad they never released the video game that they were playing in the super computer. Just too bad they didn't make the computer Brainiac.

hahahah! I loved that game!!! when i was a kid I prayed that they would come out with a video game like that! Too bad it never came out.

I love Robert Vaughn in that movie too. Me and coworker always quote stuff from that movie. Funny.

I also thought Annette O'Toole looked pretty damn foxy as Lana.

Pamela Stephenson as Lorelei Ambrosia was nothing to sneeze at back then either! And just realized Ann Ross (Vera) played in a lot of B-movie horror flicks.

As for the game, Atari released one somewhat for the Atari 2600, but not the same one seen obviously. Ironically, Atari did the graphics for that sequence, but game systems of course didn't have the horsepower back then to pull it off.

YES!!!! She was a knockout in the Marilyn Monroe fashion! She is also married to Scottish actor Billy Conolley (I cannot spell his name). I always wondered about the scene where Supes goes rogue and meets up with her at Ross Webster's penthouse ski lodge? I hope there is not an evil Superboy running around out there somewhere (lol)

I loved the fight scene with Clark verses the evil Superman. I was freaked out when he threw Clark in the car crusher. Most people despise that movie...but I still love it.

I remember my old Atari Spiderman game...Spidey just looks like a red clump of pixels and Gobby is just a goofy looking floating mass. I loved those old games.

stormsonweathers In reply to RobbVision [2007-09-11 05:10:33 +0000 UTC]

LOL, I can *barely* remember the Atari Spiderman, but remember games like Fast Food, Journey Escape, and Pacman (the 5200 version more than made up for that mistake). ET on the other hand was something that REALLY needed burying! Even Custard's Revenge was a better game!

As for Superman III as an whole. I just see it for what it was: a live-action cartoon and a decent one at least (for 1982). I never expected James Cameron (or Richard Donner) level of directing or a script that delves into the reflection of the human spirit. It's a popcorn movie that obviously didn't take itself seriously, so I didn't have to either! I would have thought all the slapstick during the opening credits was an indication Even as a kid, this was more apparent than the other two movies. Yes, a lot of people did despise it, but it was the cheese that made it work! Look at Flash Gordon!

Going back into old games... C64 version of Impossible Mission! I still play that game to this day thanks to the current crop of C64 emus.

THAT ET GAME SUCKED SO BAD!!!!!!! i remember my brother and I playing it and just hating it. We gave up because we could not understand it.

Flash Gordon...another classic from our generation!!

Someone sent me a clip of the angry Nintendo nerd blasting the original Nintendo Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles game....it was hilarious...on YouTube!

HAHA!! Saw the Angry Nintendo Nerd review! Thanks for the tip! Wow, he went through all that just to say "I don't like it"? Classic!

Yea, he was right though, I got the game thinking it was based off the arcade version but alas... luckily, Super C was there to keep me sane!

Can still go on and on about classic movies and such! A good movie at the time that didn't catch on was the original Heavy Metal. Who knows what North American animation would look like today if it did? The Handover Fist/Captain Stern short was classic! Rock and Rule followed and fell on deaf ears (no pun intended...a little). Mock reminded me a lot of Mick Jagger

RobbVision In reply to stormsonweathers [2007-09-13 03:12:30 +0000 UTC]

you know i ashamed to say this...but I only just saw Heavy Metal a couple years ago...and I loved it! Another great Bakskhi flick is "Fire & Ice" based off Frazetta's artwork. The women in the toon are awesome....WOW! Defiantely not a kid's cartoon!!!!

i really loved the turtles game...LOVED THE ARCADE VERSION! But i think I liked the Nintendo game because of the music and graphics...plus i was a closet turtles geek in an age where I was afraid to admit I was into Ninja turtles. Because when I was into them....most people did not know about the "adult" comic...but only the kids cartoon and toyline....

stormsonweathers In reply to RobbVision [2007-09-13 05:21:51 +0000 UTC]

I think I remember "Fire and Ice", but nothing comes to mind. I do however remember "Wizards" and "Fritz the Cat" both also by Baskshi.

Never seen the full series of the TMNT comic when I was a kid, but heard a lot of good things about it and saw a few of the issues just a few years ago. Some cool stuff indeed!

I followed some of the TMNT TV episodes, but not enough to call myself a die hard fan. Mostly been watching "Voltron" (both Lions and vehicles), "He-Man", and the mandatory "Transformers".

I was a huge fan of the turtles comic..the darker comic...but watched the cartoon becasue i liekd the turtles so much...but it jsut was not the same....the first movie was very cool..the second one pretty bad, and I never saw the ones after. I still havce not seen the new cg one..i hear it is excellent!

stormsonweathers In reply to RobbVision [2007-09-14 15:27:37 +0000 UTC]

Same here. So far I haven't seen any of the current incarnations of TMNT in any form, heck, even the new toy line for that matter! But yea, gotta find the time to head over to the comic shop or online one of these days to see if I can find any of the darker books.

Plan on seeing if I can get my hands on the "Lion Force" Voltron off of Ebay. So far it seems cheaper than finding Devistator from "Transformers" and don't even ask how much I've seen Prediking going for. Eeep!

I have the original die cast lion Voltron....the one they recalled for having too much lead paint! Mine is busted up pretty bad though from falling off my shelf when I was a kid. That was a very cool toy.

It is pretty cool....except they threw in some hoakey/quickly done special effects to tie in scenes plus original test footage..so its pretty choppy. A lot of stuff makes more sense....but I wish they would have still kept Supes throwing that big cellophane "S" symbol off his chest! HA HA!
