Since I'm an American, I like to feel that I'm quite unbiased in the matter of inter-system railfan rivalry. Although there is that small matter of my worship of I.K. Brunel.

How do you feel, casting aside regionalism for a few seconds ,
about Oliver Bulleid? I like his having been so open to experimentation, to seriously trying to improve steam locomotive design. Most of his 'failures' were due to the experimental nature of his work, and to there just not being enough money or time to develop properly. Same story as in America, really; the diesels were more efficient already and the railways went for the quick solution.

Yeah he made some pretty cool locomotives, btw i can't really be picky on what steam trains i like with the amount that are left, i like them all and yes your very true

Indeed True Though apparently on average there is a Steam Train railtour everyday a year in this country course thats on average, LOL
