Description i will be using photoshop cs2 for this tutorial.

NOTE: i know there are other ways of converting an image to sepia, i am simply trying out different techniques.

1. duplicate your background layer and go to image > adjustments > desaturate.

2. now go to layers > new adjustment layer > brightness/contrast and fill this in:
brightness: -11
contrast: -6

3. create a new raster layer and fill it with the colour #1D2732, set it to exclusion at 100%. now duplicate this layer.

4. duplicate your DESATURATED layer and drag it to the top. set it to soft light at 100%.

5. go to layers > new adjustment layer > colour balance and fill this in:
shadows: -20, -35, -50
midtones: 0, 0, 0
highlights: 0, 0, 0

now merge your layers and you're done!
if your image doesn't look similar to the one above, play around with the settings until you're happy.

It's really beautiful!
Do you mind sharing how to make a new raster layer?
I'm not quite sure how to do that.

well if you have the layers window up, there should be a little icon that looks like a piece of paper along the bottom, next to the trash can one and others. just click on that. (:

^^ I noticed that in step 5 it says layers > new adjustment layer > colour balance , shouldnt it be Image> Adjustments> Color Balance?
Just wanted to help!
But I love the tutorial =]

oh, it's supposed to be that. creating a new adjustment layer is better if you have a lot of different colour/adjustment layers.

Don't you wan't to put the owner of this pic in the description? I don't think she would be happy with that... And if you make also a link to the original deviation, the people could download the picture to try your tutorial out
